It makes sense to anybody who takes the time to think.That analogy makes absolutely NO sense.
The definition of quick is: "acting or capable of acting with speed"You are confusing speed with quickness or repetition.

Im starting to ask myself the same thing, why am I trying?so why am I trying?
With an Uzi you get more shots per minute, but with a 270 the bullets go faster when they exit the muzzle.I see the Uzi vs 270 as more of a speed vs timing thing. I can get more punches off not necessarily being faster, but just launching them with less of a gap of time in between. Sooner rather than faster.
With these videos you have to clarify what kind of speed you're talking about in order for people to know what you mean by speed. Do you mean speed as in how many punches you can throw per minute or speed as in how fast your hand goes in MPH?Power = compress and release
It takes time to have a full compressing with the whole-body unification. When you compress halfway and release for speed, you will only generate 50% power.
If you watch these 2 "power generation" videos, a punch take about 1 second to complete. In combat, 1 second can be too long.
If you watch these 2 "speed generation" videos, a punch take less than 1/4 second. But those punches may not have enough knock down power because a punch is not fully compressed.

But there are other factors that have to be accounted for. For instance you have to specify what kind of punches we're talking about. With some punches your hand travels a very short distance as opposed to other punches where your hand covers a longer distance. The less distance you have to cover the more punches you will be able to throw per second. You will most likely be able to throw more lead hand jabs per second than rear hand straight punches as your hand has to cover a greater distance with the rear hand straight punch, but that does not mean your hand moves at a higher speed in MPH when throwing the lead hand jab as opposed to the rear hand straight punch.If you can throw
- 2 punches within 1 second, your single punch speed is 1/2 second.
- 4 punches within 1 second, your single punch speed is 1/4 second.
So, single punching speed affect multiple punching speed. Since it's difficult to record single punching speed, usually, people measure how many punches that you can throw per second.
Well there is more to it than just speed with being able to block somebody's punch, there is also technique, timing, strategy, and so forth.One day a guy challenged praying mantis master Brendan Lai. Brendan said, "I'll just throw 1 punch at you. If you can block my punch, you win, otherwise you lose". The guy failed to block Brendan's punch and left.
I like this kind of civilized challenge. A challenge doesn't have to hurt your opponent. Speed challenge is one of those civilized challenge.

Also somebody with shorter arms might be able to throw more punches per second because with shorter arms their hands will have to cover less distance to complete the punch as opposed to somebody with longer arms, but that also does not mean that the hands of somebody with shorter arms are going to be moving faster in MPH than the hands of somebody with longer arms.
You also have to take into account the time in between punches. With shorter intervals in between punches you will obviously be able to throw more punches in a given amount of time but that again is different than how fast your hand moves in MPH.
So it depends on what kind of speed we're talking about.
