your doubt, it fuels me
your hate, it drives me
the challenge ignites me
you make me fight harder.

@Chris Parker[/B], Ah you have chosen cult TV as your weapon, haha, well, bring it :D Yes, they did a brand new Red Dwarf just there for Easter, hmm, it was, well, ok I guess. Just ok though. Well, here is one from you neck of the woods was my fav afterschool show. Oh wow Ada Nicodemou played Katerina and was my absolute heroine when I was an obnoxious teen. A role model indeed ;) And I was totally over the moon when I saw her as the white-rabbit inked girl in The Matrix :) Believe she was in Home and Away too, but I am never home to see it. Go on, tell me you watched this too? Who was your fav? Rivers was a badass too :) Can you guess what it is without looking?

Well, I hardly count Heartbreak High as "cult TV", more an attempt to extend the revenue from a semi-successful Aussie film (when our industry needed a bit of a kick), but I do adore any reason to revisit Ada... now that is much more my style. Little, brunette, curvy, olive skin, gorgeous eyes... sorry, lost my train of thought there!

To take a tangent here, we'll go to a song from another classic Aussie flick, Young Einstein. This is a song from one of Australia's most prolific songwriters, Paul Kelly, and goes by the title "Dumb Things"... this is a song I feel we can all relate to from time to time.

Welcome, strangers, to the show
I'm the one who should be lying low
Saw the knives out, turned my back
Heard the train coming, stayed out on the track
In the middle, in the middle, in the middle of a dream
I lost my shirt, I pawned my rings
I've done all the dumb things

Caught the fever, heard the tune
Thought I loved her, hung my heart on the moon
Started howling, made no sense
Thought my friends would rush to my defence
In the middle, in the middle, in the middle of a dream
I lost my shirt, I pawned my rings
I've done all the dumb things

And I get all your good advice
It doesn't stop me from going through these things twice
I see the knives out, I turn my back
I hear the train coming, I stay right on that track
In the middle, in the middle, in the middle of a dream
I lost my shirt, I pawned my rings
I've done all the dumb things
I melted wax to fix my wings
I've done all the dumb things
I threw my hat into the ring
I've done all the dumb things
I thought that I just had to sing
I've done all the dumb things

@jarrod
oh man it is too early in the morning for all that, my poor ears! Ah **** it, here is some noize for you back :D This just hits the spot and has a beautiful metal chorus. He speaks this part...
Never more to be held down
By the weights against me
Never more to be cast aside
This day is mine

~~~~
@Chris Parker Well one nation's mainstream is another's cult, see? :) Yes Ada is even more of a thing now since Heartbreak. Anyways, -I- liked it! So. See when you say "classic Aussie flick" I immediately think of Strictly Ballroom haha. Well since you give me that natty Young Einstein ost song, and it is apparent that you are nothing if not a patriot, well here is one back. One of Autralia's finest I might say (well after the Stranglers )... Short and sweet, lovely :)
I'm feeling happy; so highly evolved
My time's a riddle that'll never be solved
Dreaming for something; reaching for something
Just waiting for the sun to carry me in
Stranglers, hmm? Okay, here you are:
Golden Brown
Golden brown texture like sun
Lays me down with my mind she runs
Throughout the night
No need to fight
Never a frown with golden brown
Every time just like the last
On her ship tied to the mast
To distant lands
Takes both my hands
Never a frown with golden brown
Golden brown finer temptress
Through the ages she's heading
West
From far away
Stays for a day
Never a frown with golden brown
Never a frown
With golden brown
Never a frown
With golden brown
But, more to my current mood (read into that what you will...)
Afternoon Delight
The Starland Vocal Band
Gonna find my baby, gonna hold her tight
gonna grab some afternoon delight.
My motto's always been; when it's right, it's right.
Why wait until the middle of a cold dark night.
When everything's a little clearer in the light of day.
And you know the night is always gonna be there any way.
Sky rockets in flight. Afternoon delight. Afternoon delight.
Thinkin' of you's workin' up my appetite
looking forward to a little afternoon delight.
Rubbin' sticks and stones together makes the sparks ingite
and the thought of rubbin' you is getting so exciting.
Sky rockets in flight. Afternoon delight. Afternoon delight.
Started out this morning feeling so polite
I always though a fish could not be caught who wouldn't bite
But you've got some bait a waitin' and I think I might try nibbling
a little afternoon delight.
Sky rockets in flight. Afternoon delight. Afternoon delight.
Please be waiting for me baby when I come around.
We could make a lot of lovin' 'for the sun goes down.
Sky rockets in flight. Afternoon delight. Afternoon delight.
Hmm, might be revealing a bit too much here...
ah, killswitch, good stuff. i like how a lot of the newer metal bands are channeling anger into a generally positive message. here's something a little mellower by the mountain goats:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HYcmbtGgi6Q&feature=related
i hope i cut myself shaving tomorrow
i hope it bleeds all day long.
our friends say it's darkest before the sun rises
we're pretty sure they're all wrong.
i hope it stays dark forever
i hope the worst isn't over.
i hope you blink before i do
& i hope i never get sober.
i am drowning
there is no sign of land
you are coming down with me
hand in unlovable hand
& i hope you die.
i hope we both die.
I generally do not like this band much but I heard this on the radio twice and it hit a chord and I had to see if the lyrics were what I thought and for the most part they are. The reason for posting this it reminds me a bit of my misspent youth…except for tequila, I never liked tequila :D... and I am much more calm now :EG: Actually I am and I owe a lot of that to Martial Arts...but that's another story.
"Burn It To The Ground"
Well it's midnight, damn right, we're wound up too tight
I've got a fist full of whiskey, the bottle just bit me
Oh
That **** makes me bat **** crazy
We've got no fear, no doubt, all in balls out
We're going off tonight
To kick out every light
Take anything we want
Drink everything in sight
We're going till the world stops turning
While we burn it to the ground tonight
Oh
We're screaming like demons, swinging from the ceiling
I got a fist full of fifties, tequila just hit me
Oh
We got no class, no taste, no shirt, and **** faced
We got it lined up, shot down, firing back straight crown
We're going off tonight
To kick out every light
Take anything we want
Drink everything in sight
We're going till the world stops turning
While we burn it to the ground tonight
Oh
Ticking like a time bomb, drinking till the nights gone
Well get you hands off of this glass, last call my ***
Well no chain, no lock, and this train won't stop
We got no friend, no doubt, all in balls out
We're going off tonight
To kick out every light
Take anything we want
Drink everything in sight
We're going till the world stops turning
While we burn it to the ground tonight
Oh
We're going off tonight
To kick out every light
Take anything we want
Drink everything in sight
We're going till the world stops turning
While we burn it to the ground tonight
@Chris Parker haha, I think your libido is not in check :) Your prognosis is not good, you must call for your preacher and sprinkle some sanctified water upon your head and leave the door open that the djinn might leave unobstructed haha.. Ah since you are trying and being forthright, I will give you a proper one back and hope you like regardless, since I guess this is how I think I am feeling right now ANNOYED with stuff pffft
@jarrod Ooh baby, that is a new band to me, thank you! Clever lyrics. I like clever lyrics. Mellower, eh? Hmmm, nope, I am not in the mood for mellow right now. Here, how bout this, Archie Bronson Outfit, singer Sam reminds me of my old Physics teacher haha. Been quiet for years, still sounds good though :)
Hope you like?
@Xue Sheng, nope I am not a huge fan of them neither. Tequila? Meh. I have no vices. I am viceless, pffft. I like cute doggies though so here is something that might put a smile on you (I am not sure how difficult a thing that is :)) Still, you will not fault me for trying mister :) I hope you are calm. Calmer? Smile for me, yes? The superduper Super Furry Animals :)
:D Thanks
And I am considerably more calm than I use to be, as I use to tell an old girlfriend that was back in the days I was still swinging from trees..... now.... I don't even climb them...... and ICMA and Taijiquan has a lot to do with that :)
Hey J.
So long as we are in an honest mood, this may not be my typical listening, but the lyrics are quite telling at this point in time... Again, read what you may.
Kryptonite (3 Doors Down)
You called me strong, you called me weak
But still your secrets I will keep
You took for granted all the times I
Never let you down
You stumbled in and bumped your head, if
Not for me then you would be dead
I picked you up and put you back
On solid ground
MAN! I’m in the mood for Y&T today Black Tiger, or Mean Streak or Barroom Boogie or Knock you out or Hell Or High Water or Earthshaker or anything from Y&T
Hurricane
Cold chill down your back
You feel the power about to attack
The wicked sky, it screams with pain
You hear it’s warning and it drives you insane
Gonna drive you insane
Well, it’s a hurricane, yeah
And it’s coming down on you
Well, it’s a hurricane, yeah
And it’s coming down on you, you, you, you
Fear strikes deep inside
You’re on your own with no place to hide
Much too late, you hear that sound
You’re in it’s grasp never to be found
Well, it’s a hurricane, yeah
And it’s coming down on you
Well, it’s a hurricane, yeah
And it’s coming down on you, you, you, you
Cold chill down your back
You feel the power about to attack
Well, it’s a hurricane, yeah
And it’s coming down on you
Well, it’s a hurricane, yeah
And it’s coming down on you, you, you, you
Don't just sit there
Come on get up and move
If you want to
Tell you what we're gonna do
Rock you (Rock you)
I've been waiting
For so long
Gonna play it loud
Gonna play it strong
Well don't just sit there
Come on get up and move
If you want to
Tell you what we're gonna do
Rock you (Rock you)
Rock you (Rock you)
feeling a little blue today, so here's what i'm into at the moment:
I want your head.
I want your wicked parts.
I want to wring out your evil thoughts.
I want to eat out your bitter heart.
I want your soul to sing six words harmony
Of all the pigs that might tempt me.
I know you're sick alone and I’m telling everyone everything.
So scratch it on the wall of your coffin on your sick day home:
"And when your lover loves to cheat there's another you can meet
It’s a short pier, it's a long walk home"
You gotta show me where it hurts,
There’s a beast and a burden
Kicking, spitting on your bathroom floor.
This is your life this is your life and
When I’m done it's over a little bit more.
Good things die all the time,
God bless your heart, vengeance is mine.
"Kiss me like you mean goodbye," said the spider to the fly.
When all those times you thought that you were wrong, you were right.
So if I fight the good fight will hairlines recede?
Will lines deepen in face to craft a look of defeat?
I feel the end is near my little Monday night whore,
My little Saturday night became a Sunday remorse.
When it's all over America,
The Godless game show heathens.
This is your life, this is your life,
At last my good friend we are even.
I know I’ll never lose an arm, never stay up staring at the phone.
I'll never rot up with disease don't you bury me and leave,
Don’t you leave me in the ground alone.
You gotta show me where it hurts, never cremate me to burn,
Never chop me up and throw me to sea.
You’ll never have to find the words they come spilling unrehearsed,
But you and I will never find that peace.
Good things die all the time,
God bless your heart, vengeance is mine.
"Kiss me like you mean goodbye," said the spider to the fly.
When all those times you thought that you were wrong, you were right.
Good things die all the time,
God bless your heart, vengeance is mine.
"Kiss me like you mean goodbye," said the spider to the fly.
When all those times you thought that you were wrong, you were right.
Heard this one on the way to work and it kinda struck a nerve with the state of things in politics today...
Do you see what I see?
Truth is an offense
You silence for your confidence
Do you hear what I hear?
Doors are slamming shut
Limit your imagination, keep you where they must
Do you feel what I feel?
Bittering distress
Who decides what you express?
Do you take what I take?
Endurance is the word
Moving back instead of forward seems to me absurd
Doesn't matter what you see?
Or into it what you read?
You can do it your own way
If it's done just how I say
Independence limited
Freedom of choice
Is made for you, my friend
Freedom of speech is words that they will bend
Freedom with their exception
Do you fear what I fear?
Living properly
Truths to you are lies to me
Do you choose what I choose?
More alternatives
Energy derives from both the plus and negative
Do you need what I need?
Boundaries overthrown
Look inside to each his own
Do you trust what I trust?
Me, myself, and I
Penetrate the smokescreen I see through the selfish lie
Dosn't matter what you see?
Or into it what you read?
You can do it your own way
If it's done just how I say
Independence limited
Freedom of choice
Is made for you, my friend
Freedom of speech is words that they will bend
Freedom with their exception
Do you know what I know?
Your money and your wealth
Your silence just to hear yourself
Do you want what I want?
Desire not a thing
I hunger after independence lengthen freedom's ring
Dosn't matter what you see?
Or into it what you read?
You can do it your own way
If it's done just how I say
Independence limited
Freedom of choice
Is made for you, my friend
Freedom of speech is words that they will bend
Freedom no longer frees you
Doesn't matter what you see
Or into it what you read
You can do it your own way
If it's done just how I say
Broke out an old CD today by one of my fav's...
I forgot how much I enjoyed this song. It is a much deeper song than what it would appear on the surface....really. :)
For Thanksgiving we had 'tatas,
succotash and rudebagas.
Then came turkey from the oven.
Broke the wishbone.
Covenants were sealed and set.
On the losing end of a wishbone,
and I won't pretend not to mind.
On the losing end of a wishbone,
and I won't pretend not to mind.
Christmas Eve we ate at Aunty's.
We had some ham glazed with honey.
Rolled the Yule log on the fire.
Threw the hambone to the dogs and went to bed.
On the losing end of a wishbone,
and I won't pretend not to mind.
On the losing end of a wishbone,
and I won't pretend not to mind.
In the morning the weathercock was heard
asking what he had learned of the Earth.
"Is it a round place with deserts and oceans,
housing as many winds as one might wish?"
We were standing by the gate.
He said, "Oh my, it's getting late!"
Then he took off flying to the south
with a black snake in his mouth.
You can shake it, break it, or glue it whole,
but there's no two ways about it with a broke wishbone
on the losing end.
You can shake it, break it, or glue it whole,
but there's no two ways about it with a broke wishbone
on the losing end.
For St. Patrick's we had cabbage,
corned beef stew, egg salad sandwich.
Then came the whiskey from the basement.
Danced all night into the dawn,
then held our heads.
On the losing end of a wishbone,
and I won't pretend not to mind.
On the losing end of a wishbone,
and I won't pretend not to mind.
Hey J,
Faith No More, absolute favourite, and one of my favourite of their songs as well! Also love "Helpless" from Album of the Year... not lacking in confidence with that title, were the lads? And now they're back and touring again!
But for me, at the moment, I will present you with another collection of words and notes, not commonly known outside of particular circles, yet still favoured by myself. Paul McDermott I have mentioned before does have a pretty turn of phrase at times, this is a song called Stripped, first performed in his comedy group Gud.
Stripped.
Ba di da di da di da da da
Ba di da di da di da di da da da dum
Ba di da di da di da da da
Ba di da di da di da di da da da dum
I have been stripped of a layer of meaning, I
Fell through the floor watched you rise through the ceiling
She's so high, higher than thought can think
A mere sprite, like one of the nubilate
So hold tight, she radiates light from her
Jokes, it's what men prefer
They need the centre of things
The centre of things
I watched them packing up all Sunday morning
The day of the fourth and they fled without warning
It's so bright, the sun almost burns your eyes
A cruel fight, I feel I can sympathise
Famine, it pours over boiling words
It's more than we deserve
Love is a beautiful curse
A beautiful curse
Ba di da di da di da da da
Ba di da di da di da di da da da dum
She said I'm stained like a girl from the bowery
I pay my respects to her hourly
I'm just so clumsy and circumspect
I never know what it meant
Perhaps it was heaven sent
She's so high, this kitten on gasoline
And codeine, fuelled by her medicine
She lies back. "Handsome." she says again,
"You've always been my friend."
Lord it's the loveliest day
The loveliest day
Ba di da di da di da da da
Ba di da di da di da di da da da dum
Ba di da di da di da da da
Ba di da di da di da di da da da dum
I have been stripped of a layer of meaning, I
Fell through the floor watched you fly through the ceiling
And I find, you're finer than porcelain
Or bromine on silver gelatine
In blue sky, she's carried by seraphim
Aptly named valium
Into the arms of the night
The arms of the night
Ba di da di da di da da da
Ba di da di da di da di da da da dum
Ba di da di da di da da da
Ba di da di da di da di da da da dum
Hey J,
It's pertinent at times, depends who I'm thinking of... my past is a many coloured tapestry of loves and lives, lost and found, endured and enduring. But another oft heard song in my life, and another which echoes many times over, is from The Tea Party.
The Bazaar
silence swimming in a pool of dreams
beneath its depths the forgotten streams
above, the city of the evening star
behind its walls, the grand bazaar
as she walks through its endless maze
cursing those who mistrust her ways
please my friend no matter what she sees
tell my lover come back to me
doorways spilling out their sombre light
casting shadows that will raid the night
along the alleys of her ruling fears
walk the visions that will cause her tears
lying still as she wills her glance
through the eyes of a charmers trance
please my friend no matter what she sees
tell my lover come back to me
and on the walls
shadows play
twilight souls
anguished ways
lost adrift
severed seas
I await you
come to me
