It is said in classrooms all the time that the only stupid question is the one that isn't asked. Apparently, that isn't true anymore. The stupid question is the one that asks about current "everybody knows" theories and anything that has a "consensus" of scientists. If you ask questions about those theories, you are apparently asking a stupid question, even with half of all neuroscience papers having mistakes in them, and the brontosaurus being misnamed for 90 years...well, read the original aritcle in the post and you will see what I mean...

People aren't treated as stupid simply for disagreeing with scientists. At least not in my experience. We selectively vaccinate in my house. I haven't been treated like an idiot. Considering the province I live in has a 20-24% uptake for the free flu shot each year, I'm not alone in disagreeing with the scientists consensus on getting all vaccinations. Or that only 34% of healthcare workers take their free flu shot. The worst reaction I've met with was when I refused consent to a medical procedure. I was dealing with a specialist and she didn't take nicely to my decision. But she did later apologize for her reaction when my decision worked out for the best.

Or at least, that has been my experience. I have noticed people can be more vocal in the US when they disagree with someone.
