A recent study of South Africa has revealed that as many as 25% of all males are rapists, almost 10% of them engaging in rape before the age of ten. Also close to a third of women have been victims of rape. I knew that South Africa had a generally high crime rate but I didn't realize it was that bad. I had thought it was comparatively Westernized. Makes me wonder what other countries aren't as safe as I once thought.

Depending on how the definitions of rape are being used, "western" countries aren't that far behind the numbers you see here for percentage of women. I don't think I've seen anything looking at percentage of men who are rapists in the US.
