TJ of Medlin's Good Wood is working on a new product. The Quarterstaff! Here are pre-production models. They are beautiful two-piece laminated 8 foot, 1 and 1/8" ash.

Was a quarterstaff historically eight feet long?
Sometimes.

Depends on which, who, when, where. Some of them give specific lengths, others give a way to customize to your height. Late era stuff, Victorian / Edwardian sporting styles could be a short as 6' or as long as 8' or more. George Silver gives a method of measuring which could make a 9' staff for a tall person.

And these are what's called a "Short Staffe." The "Long Staff" could be 12 or 14 foot.

That said, TJ's sticks are nice.

Peace favor your sword,
Kirk
