You have meet over the year and how did it impact your training afterwards. I mean did it make you start your training over for you where lacking in certain area's or did you just expand off what you knew.

The two Grandmasters I will list aren't technically TKD Grandmasters, though they are originally from Korea and studied what was later used as base arts for TKD.

I met Grandmaster Ki Whang Kim (deceased 1993) in November 1992 in Houston, Tx. when he was a guest at a martial arts festival. His training was in the 1940's under Toyama Kanken at Nihon University in Japan. http://www.kimsookarate.com/gallery-first30/gmks-group.html

I've known and still train under Grandmaster Kim Soo, who resides in Houston, Texas. He began training in 1950 at the Chang Moo Kwan, which was a karate (from Toyama Kanken) & Chuan-fa dojang. http://www.kimsookarate.com/gallery-old-days/58_Demo/58_demo.htm Some may remember his articles from 1964-68 in Black Belt Magazine. He also authored the first book on the (then)newly created Palgue forms in 1973. Around 1969-70, Joon Rhee and Roy Kurban used to send their black belts to him to learn the newly created Yudansha forms from Korea (Koryo, Tae Baek, Ship Jin , Jee Tae, etc.). http://www.kimsookarate.com/gallery-first30/firstclinic.html My father was one of Grandmaster Kim Soo's 1st students in the US in 1968. Then, he taught seperate classes (1 hour of karate, 1 hour of Hapkido, etc.) But, since everyone was so curious about the other arts he decided to combine those curriculums into one comprehensive curriculum using a unique teaching method he developed. He calls the system, "Chayon-Ryu," or "Natural Way." http://www.chayonryu.com

Grandmaster Kim Soo has taught me many things that have improved my life. There are really too many to list. But above all, he has been a role model of integrity, honesty, and truth.

Not just a great martial artist, but a great person! I first met him when he came to my school to conduct a promotion test. Since then, I see him at almost every tourney we go to and he always makes time to see how myself and family (who are always there with me) are doing. How someone like this even remembers an insignificant peon like me, I'll never know.

Here's a link to him. It's a little outdated, but impressive none the less.

Steve and Jean Lopez came out to do a training session that our dojang sponsered. Very nice folks, down to earth and VERY talented.

After meeting Master Stoker, all others pale in comparison.:supcool: I hope to also one day.:uhyeah:

Next week, I'll have the opportunity to meet & train under GM Park, Hae Man. GM Park was one of the folks who designed the Tae Guek forms. He's my instructor's (GM Ed Sell) instructor. I'm looking forward to this.

Please I'm grateful for the comment but I'm diffently not worthy to be Great with any of those that have been mention so far. My training is far less than Master Rhee or Gen. Choi. But thank you.
