Koryo

That is not even close to the old version of Koryo I know. But then again there is probaly more than one.

Yes, that is 1967 Koryo Hyung.

Looks like a few minor movements have been added or modified. But that is the first Koryo form that KTA developed/introduced in 1967.

After looking at it if you put in a few moves it would be right.

Can someone give a brief history lesson on why this Koryo was no longer done. I figure that the name "Koryo" was more important to have than the actual form. They could have just changed the name & kept the form.

The only difference between what was on the video and the original (as I learned it from Grandmaster Kim Soo) was,

1. they added a small block after the wedge block (after the knee-head smash part),

2. the backing-up forearm blocks should be with a knifehand,

3. after the spinaround forearm block (should be a backfist), what they did as a rising block should be a clearing block (as if someone grabbed you arm).

But, these are very minor interpretation differences and the structure of the form is no different at all. If someone practices this form they really can't mistake it for anything else.

Well also a few of the stance was off and the blocks was not right and to me that means the structure of the form is off. when they first step out it is suppose to be a backstance they are in a horestance or somekind, at 14 into the clip with the rising block they should be in a long stance and you have two on the right in a walking stance and a bad one at that the lady on the left is almost in the proper long stance just needs to be a little wider or at least they the way I learned it. the head slap is to low the knee needs to be brought to to the stomach regions and the the hand going though it the gentleman in the middle is slapping though before it reaches his waist. I guess like Rmclain said the integity of the form is there just a lot of little tidbits that to me is not right. But who knows maybe my GM showed us it wrong.
