Read that before. The earth is billions of years old I bet itas gone through this sort of thing before. it probably compensates in some way.

The earth can, does and has compensated for things in the past.... this quake may be one of those.

I had a professor in college who was of the belief that the earth was self correcting, however you really did not want it to self correct because in his view that self correction could be catastrophic
