I need to get rid of my bad habits I have from karate

Yellow Belt
When I'm sparing I usually only do small combos and I'm not really used to throwing hooks
I Also never learnt how to react in high pressure situations and I've always struggled with that

Okaaay. Is there something you'd like to know? What's your style and experience? Who are you?
I'd like to know how to react when I'm backed up in an corner, I have good head movement but I end up getting wrecked every time someone walks me down
I've trained wado ryu karate for 5 years and Im now training kajukenbo ( Hawaiian martial arts that incorporates boxing, karate judo and kenpo)

Sounds like the system you are training in now will teach you exactly what you are looking for.
This is a new skill you are trying to learn and just like any other new skill it's going to take time, dedication, and focus to learn. There is no secret tip or trick that will give you this ability instantly.

In you next several sparring, if you try to use hook to knock down your opponent's straight punch. After you have use hook to knock down 1000 punches, you will develop confidence in your hook.

I'd like to know how to react when I'm backed up in an corner,
In sparring you need to train "earth strategy". No matter how hard that your opponent's attack may be, you should never move your feet for even 1 inch.

As a basic starting point. Put your shoulder against their shoulder. And work from there.

In sparring there are many techniques I often avoid as its friendly, but your elbows can help alot, and knees. Elbow or knee in the chest. or try to get in hard low kicks. heels to legs. make i painful to stand close to you. Also knees to their legs is nice.

What I usually fear most in close range (except takedown if that is allowed) are knees and elbows. A knee in the ribst can be devastating.

Backing down and jsut shelling up is I think the worst option. then they are controlling the distance 100%

If you are working/going inside, go all the way in. Don't get in that 'strike zone'.

But inside the strike zone you have the knee and elbow zone. The times I had some lingering rib pain after classes, it has been from a knee to the rib/chest, rarely a strike or kick.

Combine your style with the Philly Shell defense when it comes to punches. You will thank me later.
