Please help me translate this, again

A about 2+ years ago I started studying Okinawan Karate. Something I had always wanted to do but life always got in the way. So It was a bucket list thing for me. So, of course I started surfing the internet for information. Any way I came across Japanese scrolls for sale. Actually, I thought some of them I could easily afford to purchase. So I started purchasing scrolls that caught my fancy. Obviously, I knew nothing about them beyond the pictures of them listing them for sale. After I purchased maybe 20 of them my wife found out what I was doing and put an end to that. The next question was what to do with them. We have about a 1200 square foot home. Most of the wall space was filled with family pictures. But, I did find a small wall that I had permission to hang a scroll.

It was the entrance to a gate at a temple. All Kanji. After awhile I changed the hanging scroll to one with a picture. awhile ago I replaced one with a lot of Kanji, no picture. People on here identified it as a discussion of Buddhism.

Well, I just changed the scroll again. A picture and some writing at the top. The main body of writing appears to be 4 rows of 7 characters. Maybe a month calendar.

Anyway after all that if anyone can translate it for me I would appreciate it. By the way no one in the family ever notices that I change it!

姑苏城外寒山寺，夜半钟声到客船。

While I watch the moon go down, a crow caws through the frost;

And I hear, from beyond Su-chou, from the temple on Cold Mountain,
Ringing for me, here in my boat, the midnight bell.

Sounds to me like a fisherman just enjoying nature. Pretty fitting of chinese art, from what I know; my favorite chinese (music) album is by hong ting, and if you translate the titles, it's all things like "autumn moon over still lake" or moon over guan-shan mountain"

No Japanese character in that picture. It's 100% Chinese.

It talks about 苏州寒山寺钟 Su Chou Hanshan temple bell in China.

Purchased October 9 2024. Sold by japan_vintage_shop.

I purchased it because I liked the way it looked. The fact that it is Chinese instead of Japanese is disappointing. But, it still looks the same. I know very little, almost nothing, about either China or Japan. Awhile back I signed up to take Uechi Ryu Karate lessons. Since then I have paid more attention to things Japanese. My Sensi was born in Okinawa. I came across "Japanese" scrolls on ebay and purchased several that caught my eye. Not an investment, not a historical artifact, not a cultural icon...I just liked them. Surprisingly inexpensive even including shipping.

I am disappointed, but I do not feel cheated. I will leave it hanging next to my office for awhile.
