1. Maybe asking people who most likely have no medical knowledge and any who claim to you can’t confirm it, you just ask your doctor for his opinion on the topic at your next visit.

2. If she wants to participate and you’re keeping things from her you shouldn’t be charging her as much as the other students who get the whole curriculum imho

Unless your Dr is an experienced martial artist, they probably do not know how "blood chokes" work, and will reflexively say "don't do it". Because that is generally the safe answer in a litigious world.

Don’t think you need to be an experienced martial artist to understand the risks involved with blood chokes.

This is what I find hilarious about martial arts instructors. They love talking about topics that are often fairly complicated without any actual education in those fields.

If your doctor seems unsure a quick simple explanation will be enough for an MD to understand.

Yes. Especially given how many marital artists don't know how blood chokes work.

Well it's a good thing I have extensive training and experience with both.

And how many of the people here could provide that explanation?
In any case, it won't really make any difference. Because your PCP isn't going to care what you have to say on the subject. The bottom line is that there ARE NO STUDIES to provide a statistical basis for estimating the risks. And most medical providers are no more aware of the details of how "blood chokes" work than most martial artists are. This is shown by how many people here believe(d) they were cutting off blood flow, as well as the simple fact that they're called "blood chokes" despite having no real impact on flow.

‘Choking out’ = cerebral hypoxia/anoxia. Don't do it at all.
