What is an aiki lock? Are they different than a bio mechanical method of locking?
I dont think they are different.
I think when the video creators were using that term they were talking about the opposite of Kiai.
ā.
āKiaiā implies the active state of oneās mind,
āKiaiā is a condition of oneās mind in which oneās ākiā or mental energy is actively concentrated upon an object.
When you focus a spearhand through a pair of boards,
or crush a coconut with a hammerfist
, you are exploding Kiai... intent expressed with total commitment into a single act.
Whereas āaiki,ā the passive state is about blending...or synchronization of bodies in motion.
And redirecting the intended action/expression of of an opponent through (biomechanics)
Catching a limb and using their expended energy to take control.
I feel aiki can also be demonstrated between two people in a non combative way. Look at the following two videos.
1.
How to pass the baton and see the shot like Olympians
2.
