Which of these two punching techniques do you prefer and why?

The problem is that the haymaker is not what I would consider to be a boxing punch. That's more like the type of punch someone throws on the street when they have no formal martial arts training.

To use hay-maker to hit on the back of your opponent's head can be the most powerful knock down/out punch.

The haymaker, just like pretty much any technique that delivers a powerful strike, has it's place.
I wouldn't be likely to choose to START an exchange with one. But it can certainly be used to FINISH one, if the circumstances are right.

We teach WC punching differently than "Master Wong", but he does look like he can hit. And maybe he can teach that to his students as well. IMO, like what DD said earlier, the problem is trying to learn off a video without an instructor.
