My family is going to spend a few days in Williamsburg, Virginia soon and was wondering what are some fun and hopefully frugal things to do in the area. Wife and three children ages 16, 14, and 4.

$300 just for a 1-day pass for us to go to Busch Gardens is more than I want to spend. Even the Colonial Williamsburg tickets are a bit pricey.

What to avoid in the area would be good information too!

I appreciate your replies!

Maybe it'll help you. Ooh, there's a Ripley's Believe it or Not museum

OR....

You could always take a field trip to the Hampton Roads area!

Norfolk(http://www.norfolkcvb.com/) has: Nauticus, Chrystler Art Museum, McArthur Memorial, Norfolk Zoo
VA Beach(http://www.vabeach.com/index.php) has: Virginia's Aquarium(fromerly called Marine Science Musuem), Ocean Breeze Water Park
Chesapeake(http://www.visitchesapeake.com/) has: Dismal Swamp(there's a hiking trail)
Hampton(http://www.hamptoncvb.com/go/visitors) has: VA Air & Space Museum, Hampton Carousel
Newport News(http://www.newport-news.org/) has: Endview Plantation, Mariners' Museum, Va Living Museum

That's just some of the stuff to do in my area.
