The state's House Judiciary Committee has scheduled a hearing for Tuesday afternoon to consider a bill that the Vermont Senate passed Monday by a vote of 26-4.
The House is expected to pass the bill.
Republican Gov. Jim Douglas, however, has said he opposes the bill.

Good stuff. I can't wait till it's legal for all to love and live how they see fit. It's sad that the courts or government has any say in how you choose to live your life and who you share it with.

Good to see they are taken the necessary steps to legalize gay marriage in Vermont on their own accord.

I wish government would get out of the business of marriage all together. Then it would be between you, and your partner or partners, and whatever faith tradition you choose whether or not to participate in.

You assume too much TF. The Tracking of Pedophiles isnt that important to me. I'm not a child, and I have no children, so while I think it's a good measure, I'm also by and large unaffected by it's passing or not passing, the same as I am by and large uneffected by them passing or not passing a same sex marriage proposal.

And I am part of that "Everyone" you speak of.

Hey babe, you leave us Northern New Englanders alone. :p The violent crime rate of Northern New England is about one-quarter of rate of violent crime in the Republic of Tejas. Get crime down to Vermont or New Hampshire levels and then we'll talk....mmmkay?

well gee, Carol, you think it might have more to do with the fact that you are are snowed in half the year than just less prone to crime??

lol

i mean come on. Between enforced isolation and a population smaller than my zip code of course you are gonna have less crime.......heh heh

One only requires a bunch of State Leg. guys to go 'yea', and a few to go 'ney', and the other requires careful thought and fine tuning to prevent loop holes and unconstituionality.

Which one is VT getting out of the way?
