Someone sent me this in a mail and I just had to share...

Two Wolves.

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a
battle that goes on inside people. He said, "My son,
the battle is between two 'wolves' inside us all.

One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret,
greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment
inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority and ego.

The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope,
serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence,
empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith."

The grandson thought about it for a minute
and then asked his grandfather,
"Which wolf wins?"

The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."

Thank you for sharing this. I recall learning about that wolves story from a movie, but i can't remember the name of this movie. It was about two youths who were trying to learn how to get along with each other and to eventually save the American Bison herd. A wise ancient man told this "two wolves" story to one of the youths who had difficulty controlling himself.

I cried... It's been a while since I saw the movie. Thank you SO MUCH for posting the story!

That's such a nice and compact distillation of a very important philosophical point .

An old friend of mine has his birthday this weekend and is just starting the messy process of divorce with his relatively new wife (only made three years).

I wont go into details but that little aphorism is so aposite that I'm going to put it in his card - nothing else I've said can help him steer his way out, maybe that'll help.
