When I was young, I had a wart on my elbow (only one I have ever had). No one told iodine would burn. I kept a gauze patch soaked in iodine. About the third day it started burning. Took the patch and a perfect square the size of the patch fell off. Deep burn but the wart never came back.

I got it in the original. “iodine” comes in many iterations, as I’m sure you know.
