I really think the muslims are so sexually depraved and had so many years of killing others (and each other) that what they have now is 'normal' for them. Their society cannot even remember a time when everyone, reguardless of religion or race, lived side by side and didn't bother each other.

Revolution and assination is accepted. Car bombing innocents is now part of their idea of war. Suicide is good, living is bad. So they promote the very twisted sex they desire as 'reward' for they have nothing else to give or promise to their people.

The Jews are their convient scape goat. Just as they were for other nations. If it wasn't the Jews, they would have to invent something else, anything else, to take the blame for their own transgressions.

Nowdays, as T.E. Lawrence pointed out, rebellion and violence, once ingrained as part of society, will be very hard to eradicate.

And in the Middle East, it will take many centuries, just as it did in the west, if they don't atom bomb themselves first.

Basically its a matter of how literally the Qur'an is interpreted. Most educated Muslims view the images of the Houri and other sensual delights as a way of showing that Heaven is a very pure, yet at the same time very sensual place. It ties in to the idea that one's relationship with God is an ecstatic one.

If this was some sort of sex fantasy, personally a room full of porn starlets willing to do whatever you wanted would seem more appealing to me.

I think its all about POSSESSION and POWER more than it is about sex. The virgins, untouched by any other man will be yours and yours alone. Your PROPERTY for all eternity. Seems to go hand in hand with the way women are looked at "over there" in some cases.

Totally. Why on earth should I want to spend time with virgins who have no idea what to do? If I was to go to an afterlife where there would be women waiting for me, I'd rather them have experienced and with a dirty mind.

Incidentally, I once read that the 'virgin' reward was a mistranslation of which the original meaning was a type of rare fig. Don't know if it is true or not but it would be hilarious to see these people get to their afterlife, horny as hell, and then being presented with a plate of figs. :uhyeah:

It is a serious situation but it has been since the early part of the 20th century, if anyone thought because Egypt is a 'tourist freindly' country and seems more westernised than many that it's not in the grip of fundamentalists or had forgotten it's wars against Israel they are sadly mistaken.

Seriously though you`re right. I remember reading a couple years ago about one of the leaders of Hamas. He planned terror attacks while the local cleric recruited high school kids to be suicide bombers. Both were loved and respected by all the local Hamas supporters and thier families. Great sysytem....until the cleric started calling the leader`s house asking to speak with the leader`s 17 yr old son. Then the wife began hanging up on him.
