blasphemously I drink my daily(at home) Huangshan Maofeng from a large Starbucks coffee mug so I not really put notice on how the leaves sink, but yes Iāve noticed this how tea leaves stand in a glass as late as yesterday at a large dinner party where tea was served in larger glass cups, but the leaves come to lay down after a short while in the cupā¦I didnāt ask what kind of green tea it was, but since it was a more high end restaurant and the most commonly revered tea here in Anhui is its local Huangshan Maofeng I believe that whatās was served, tasted sameāish as what I drink at home, but still with a somewhat exclusiveness to itā¦Perhaps because of the glass cup.
With black tea itās fine, Hong Kong(Guangdong) is famous for its tea(black) with milk, now popular all over China( amongst the younger generation)

Yup. Hong Kong they go to Char Chan Teng for the Lai Cha. In Malaysia they go to Mamak stall for the Teh Tarik(Pulled Tea). Although they also go to the traditional coffee shops for Teh Bing,which is similar to milk tea. But in Hong Kong,Malaysia and Taiwan we all like Bubble Tea.
Sencha tongu is kind of pleasantly āgrassyā. Gyokuro has a deep umami to it. Genmaicha has a slight smokiness to it thanks to the roasted brown rice.
In the USA, about 30 years ago i use to like the tea houses in Chinatown. But they started to change about 20 years ago. Last one i was in then was for a much younger crowd and the majority the tea was an herbal concoction, only had one plain green tea, and they were playing loud music . The place reminded me more if a Starbucks than a Chinese house. And today, they are virtually gone, and have been replaced by bubble tea places. I donāt go to those either.
Haha yes bubble tea, thatās the younger generations tea taste . Old style tea houses is quite a gone era, if one go to a good tea store(retailer) they might have a sitting area to enjoy traditional tea drinking, my taiji teacher in Dalian has such a place, a combination of tea store, jade jewelry store and mahjong recreation place.
But if you like high sugar beverages, then fill your boots.!
