sport competition?

Yeah in Kyokushin Knockdown tournament rules it's continuous sparring, point sparring (where they stop and reset after a noted strike/point) is a different format

The idea in kyokushin competitio is that "scores" don't count unless if inflicts damage or pain, that brings the opponent down. So a weak hit, or a hit that does not affect you conditioned opponent gives no points. This is also why lots of experience kyokusyhin fighters don't waste attention on blocking or evading weak techniques, as they don't have any affect nor give opponent points if a competition. You can often see from the opponents "loading" if a technique is coming with massive power or not. It it has no power, then just ignore it.

You can't practice your whole life if you don't start young.
