So a student brought me a 4 1/2' log about 10" in diameter, so I decided to make a hanging forging post; Sagi Makiwara for our training hall. I've debarked it, cut it and squared it at 4', and sanded it from 60 grit down to 2000 grit. My debate is what to wrap parts of it in; leather backed by PVA foam, or Jute wrapping. Does anyone have any experience making or using them that could provide some insight?
