question regarding baton speed

reading around I keep comming across statements that because of the extra axis a tonfa style baton (when swung properly) moves faster than a straight baton.

Now my question is, if you have enough grp space on a regular straight baton can't you create the same kind of motion just by having two hands on the weapon?

my sticks, jo and bo just kind of lay there... I tried clocking each one, but when I put them on the table next to each other they just sort of stayed put... :(

Coming from a police background, I would say that the straight baton moves faster in one hand ,two hands hinder mobility.ust my thoughts:asian:
