Perhaps you could enlighten us as to how you reached that conclusion. After all, Funakoshi was the president of the Okinawan Shobukai in 1921 when the Emperor requested a demonstration of karate in Japan. The members of the Shobukai elected Funakoshi to go to Japan. He started teaching in Japan in 1922. In Okinawa he had learned Shorin Ryu and Shorei Ryu under Azato Anko and Itosu Anko. He was elected president of the Shobukai in 1912 so some people in Okinawa obviously recognised his ability and experience.

He did have a problem later when he changed the accepted meaning of 'kara' to empty obviously against the sentiment of his fellow Okinawans. It is said that this dispute was the reason he didn't return to Okinawa. Maybe the Okinawans didn't like the ideas that Funakoshi developed in Japan but he was recognised as a master before he left Okinawa in 1921.
