Luo Guang Yu / Beng Bu

I know this is very mantis specific, but I thought this was really interesting.

This is Lou Guang Yu performing Beng Bu. Beng Bu is probably the most learned form by those who are interested in mantis kung fu. Many systems will teach this form as their mantis curriculum, some not knowing there is even any more to mantis than this one form. There is.

Well lets see, Lou Guang Yu (sometimes written as Lo Kwan Yu) was born in 1888, and I believe he accepted the request by the Hong Kong Jing Wu Association to come to Hong Kong and teach in 1930, and from then on Seven Star Praying Mantis Kung fu was propagated to other parts of China besides Shan Dong Province. He passed away in 1944 at 56 years old, so I would guess they were probably taken around the 1930's when he went back to China to teach mantis.
