Made by Midgards Messer, a damascus steel blade, anodised titanium handle beautifully knurled to give maximum grip and a key that locks it in the closed position! Very unusual indeed.

Nope. If I want my knife, then I want my knife. There are plenty of knives with integrated locks, if you're worried about it opening in your pocket. But this?
Get your knife, find the key (which doesn't look like it's going to fit on a key ring, so it'll be lost/loose in a pocket, unlock the knife, then (finally) open it. Nope.

It's a safe queen. You buy it, look at it, put it in the safe, and maybe once a year you admire it while secretly admitting its a really expensive paper weight.

You don’t understand the aesthetic concept of novelty, it seems 🙄. Midgards Messer make ‘unusual’ knives and this is unusual. There are 12,567,231 knives out there that open easily and quickly so that you can get into your Amazon parcel 0.3sec quicker.

Humans don’t even need knives anymore and it sounds as though a pair of scissors would serve you just as well as your EDC (with rounded points, of course 😉).

That’s exactly right. It’s called aesthetics. I have many, beautiful folding knives and they will never cut anything. I take one out a day, admire its engineering, its form and beauty, wipe it down with a lint free cloth and put it away again in its perspex presentation box.

As for really expensive, I’m very wealthy so a £500 folding knife is nothing to me…barely lose change, to be honest What can I say? Some of us worked hard at school so we wouldn’t have to work hard later in life and perhaps, retire at age 52 🤷🏾‍♂️

Now get back to work cutting up cardboard boxes 😡

The bubble pattern design is a rip off of the Beijing Olympics swimming arena exterior

A cool novelty knife. I'd end up wanting to take it apart to see precisely how they integrated the lock. I'd be really tempted to just carry it - with the key on my keychain - without ever locking it, just because it's an oddity.

For those of us still working, it would be a fun knife to lend to people just to watch their expression trying to figure out how to open it!

I understand the concept just fine, thanks. I like gadgets. That's partly why I own a bunch of automatic knifes. But if an item is supposed to be functional (like a knife), then that function is more important to me than asthetics.
I don't own cars that can't be driven. I don't own guns that can't be fired. I don't own blades that can't be used to cut.
You might note that I didn't say anything about what YOU should own, either in this post or my first.

Do you think my beautiful knife can cut stuff? Does it’s aesthetic beauty preclude it from doing so?

Utility and beauty are not mutually exclusive.
