Last Fall I was practicing at home in my garage. when it got cold I took a back corner of the garage and build two temporary walls to form a 8 x 12 room. insulated & heated it. Now that it is summer it is to hot even with a fan. So my question is can I cut a hole in one of the temporary walls and install a window air conditioner? I don't want to put a hole in the permant wall. It will exit and pull air from the rest of the garage not the outdoors.

Thoughts?

Those AC units generate a lot of heat. I don't think it will work very well if it's venting into the larger space where the unit also has to draw the air that it's trying to cool.

There are portable floor AC units that aren't usually as efficient as the window units BUT they have an exhaust hose for the hot air they generate. If you had someplace to route the exhaust hose out of your garage that might work pretty well for you and you might not have to cut holes in your insulation, or at least a much smaller one. If you do go this route, look into how to safely insulate the exhaust hose (I think there's a heat resistant wrap you can use) because it will make it a lot more efficient at getting the heat out or your garage.

You could just get a 12” vortex fan and suck air out through a fitted hole. This works great in certain types of indoor gardening facilities. Cheaper than AC.

So, you built a room Inside the walls of your garage? If so, Yes, you can put the A/C in the inner walls but two things will happen.
The condensate from the unit will run out on the garage floor, will need to be captured and dumped (bucket) or funneled to the outside.
A/C works off of heat exchange. The extra-heated air will be pumped into the main garage area.

There are portable A/C units that (mostly) evaporate the condensate with the hot gas air so you can put them in a room, but you have to deal with a hose for the hot gas air somehow.

How permanent is this room? If it is permanent, I would look at the smaller split units (mini-split) They only require a small hole in the outer wall. The air handler mounts on the wall inside the area to be conditioned (will require electricity of course) and the compressor unit sets outside (will require electricity of course).

I did HVAC for a living for several years so I'll throw in my 2 cents. Mini split would be perfect but expensive. And if it breaks they're expensive to repair. Window unit would be great except for as someone mentioned, heating up the garage and putting a ton of water on garage floor. Which will grow algae and bacteria and be a fall hazard. If it were me, I'd get a portable unit, cut a four inch hole or whatever size the exhaust hose is in the exterior wall of the garage. You can buy a hole saw bit that will cut a perfect round hole through the wall. Then get a simple $15.00 dryer vent exhaust hood that fits through the hole from outside. It'll keep any rain from getting in and give the hole a finished look. Then just hook the exhaust hose to that. It'll take less than fifteen minutes to drill the hole and mount the dryer exhaust hood. The dryer exhaust will also have baffles to prevent insects from coming in if you unhook the AC unit.

The outside wall are obviously permant with outlets and rolled batting insulation.
The inside wall are modular. I built them seperately in 4' x 7.5' sections out of 2x4's. then I added a sheet of paneling to one side and add 3.5" of rolled insulation. I made 5 of these panels. I have a 2 car garage. I put three panels in a straight line from back wall towards big door. the two panels at 90 angle to side of garage. I connected the panels to the sides of garage with 2 4" screws and same connected panels to each other. and to rafters. added entry door. Garage already has suspended ceiling. added space heater for winter.

I just found out home improvement stores sell 110v portable room air conditionerd starting at $200 and up.
