Is Martial Arts and bodybuilding viewed has more mythic today among people?

I thought the same about Rap music but it seems to be staying šŸ™„

If an increasingly infantilised audience keeps going to watch superhero films, Hollywood will keep making them and making millions.

I watched the original Batman film when it first came out and have avoided superhero films ever since…

Most things seem to go in cycles. Same with fashion.

Rock and roll and Jazz's music is still thing today, but Pop and Hip Hop seems to be King now.

The new TV series Lethal Weapon and walker TV series base on walker Texas ranger with Chuck Norris single Hollywood is looking at some of the older cop shows and this may be making come back.

And then you have excellent martial arts action films like Life After Fighting and Black Belt in which you can see the action because there’s next to nothing of this Hollywood fast angle cutting that makes you miss all the action. It the cinematography in hollywood that’s dreadful!

The old martial arts fight movies did not have all those fast angle cutting.

Well basically starting with movie Matrix fight moves are different now in Hollywood. And anyone now with no martial arts training can fight now in movies and look like martial arts person.

Rap’s cycle seems to be as long as Halley’s comet’s!

Superhero films cycle is lasting decades. Surely they should’ve dissolved away by now?

I wonder how many more remakes they can do of spider man before people get tired of it the same with other Marvel movies.

I hear one of the biggest problem with Hollywood today is that Hollywood is so risk averse that very few unique ideas make it through scripts and into production.

They just want to do reboot after reboot of shows snd movies and things that well tested.

But with some of the reboots now some of the movies and TV shows of the 90s now are getting reboots.:) So Hollywood may be testing the waters now how deep they can go.

But I don’t think Ninja movies or martial arts movies will get reboot today as that need low and mid budget studios.

The only thing that may make come back is cop movies with martial arts lead like Dirty Harry movies or Die Hard movies. But with out martial arts young actors in Hollywood today that may be impossible to do. And lead may just be tough cop with mo martial arts skill just like Clint Eastwood.

Since these are films assembled for children and there are new kids being born everyday with parents who are happy to dump them in front of a screen while they’re busy reading about celeb gossip and trolling others, superhero films will continue to be made just like Pixar etc films are alway going to be made.

Yes, I bet that’s true. Stick to a formulaic film idea and at least recoup the costs and make a bit of a profit.

Untalented people running the entertainment business šŸ¤·šŸ¾ā€ā™‚ļø Soon Ai will be writing screen plays and scripts and those films will appeal to The Average family from Badiddly-Boing , Bowidaho.

I can’t think of a 90s TV show I’d like to see resurrected!

From speaking to a wide cross section of those I meet regularly, Ninja are considered a bitā€¦šŸ¤” ludicrous, tongue-in-cheek even a bit of a joke, so I don’t think there will be ninja-dedicated films.

I’ve never seen it. It looks a bit too…macho for my tastes šŸ¤·šŸ¾ā€ā™‚ļø
movies or Die Hard movies.
I saw it once when it came out but have avoided it since.

Then how did Cobra Kai get made? There wasn’t an iota of martial arts talent amongst any of the actors! It was the hammiest load of sh*t I’ve ever seen.šŸ™„

well with Ai we won’t need human actors at all. Ai is making music and writing books already so it’s only a matter of time…

I’ve just seen on the news that an entirely Ai-made film has already been produced. It looked just like green screen, wire-work, fast cutting stuff we’ve been subjected to over the last few decades.

ā€˜Dreams of Violets’ Directed by Ash Kusha, marked a major milestone by becoming the first live-action feature film entirely generated by Ai to debut at a major festival (Tribeca Film Festival). Produced on a shoestring budget of roughly $2,000, it relied on journalistic reports and eyewitness accounts to dramatize the Iranian civilian resistance.

ā€˜Hell Grind’ :Screened during market week at the Cannes Film Festival, this 95-minute science-fiction experiment was created by Higgsfield AI. It cost $500,000 to produce—with $400,000 dedicated purely to computing power—and utilized a team of 15 prompt engineers working over just two weeks.

Soon they’ll bring back Bruce Lee so his foundation can further cash in on his legacy.

Actually, there is a reboot of the 70s show I’d like to see: ā€˜Kung Fu’!

Leave the premise exactly as it is; none of this changing the era within which it was set, or changing the sex/race of the main protagonist, but instead have a an actor who can actually perform martial arts convincingly (or us Ai actors) and emphasise the moral aspects of each episode; perhaps making them a little more nuanced and ambiguous and have more scenes from the Shaolin Temple.

I’m not a fan nor a defender of Steven Segal, but at least in his early days he was a serious and dedicated aikidoka, even running a school and teaching in Japan. He definitely went sideways (in more ways than one) as he got older. I’m in no position to judge the state of his martial practice now. But he has a solid history. I’ve been told that when he was younger, he trained for hours and hours a day. Apparently his first wife’s father (in Japan) was an aikidoka, and that is where he at least initially learned.

Perhaps the martial arts are no longer the pivot point of modern action films but just an unmentioned tool for the plot like firearm and transport. You very rarely see the protagonist in firearm training montage (to ā€˜Eye of the Tiger’) or taking advanced driving training. They just show their supreme skills in the action. Similarly, in hand to hand combat action you generally see martial arts-type techniques like spinning elbows strikes, triple, reverse, jumping spinning back kicks etc but the protagonist’s martial arts training is simply implicit rather like their ability to shoot/drive in an exemplary fashion.
