Chen Style Tips; Online Resources?

I'm on my training in the mountains arc rn, and I need some wisdom from my adoptive martial talk sifus.

I need to get Yang Luchan level skilled at Chen style before I even think of facing Xu Xiaodong in an underground kumite, any tips for learning Chen style from online resources?

I thought if Yang could learn Chen from peeking through the floorboards, I could probably learn it from youtube and other resources.

Any advice?

Yang Luchan did more than train looking through the fence. No one trains taijiquan like they did then.

You'd have to go train at Chen Village or any of the others in the 19th generation or some of the 20th who would train you full time

I will 100%, but that’s a huge goal and it’ll take some time for me to set up my finances and my mandarin skills for that.

I still want to seize the moment and start learning, I’ve been looking at the other threads on Chen we have on the forum I think it’s still worth it.

Are there any pitfalls I should be aware of when I’m trying to learn these forms visually? And how do I actually extract that old style taijiquan hidden in the modern renditions of the forms I’ll be viewing?

I don’t recommend video learning at all.

And going to China to train full time at a Chen school will take more than money. Also may need to learn the language.

I definitely respect this mindset, but to be honest with you Martial Arts isn't my very top priority right now. It's up there for sure, but I have to prioritize other things for the next 3 years before I make the move.

I would say clackledockling is a great base art for Chen style, then you can branch off when you go to China and steamroll other beginners.
