Hello again. Can you list books for beginners? Ones that work for all martial arts? Ones that help with training the body? I have one on stretching by Kim H. Sang

Here a three more books I am reading and learning from. 1) Ultimate Fitness Through Martial Arts by H Kim Sang 2) Training For Warriors by Martin Rooney 3) Solo Training by Loren W. Christensen.

Here's the problem... beginner in what? Martial arts aren't a singular approach, systems that focus on striking will require different muscle groups to be targeted than one that focuses on throwing... same again for weapon arts. Then you have cultural influence and effect on the systems as well, with different arts having different emphasis and ideals coming from different cultures and geographic locations. Asking for a book for beginners for all martial arts, especially focusing on physical aspects, is like asking for a book for a beginner that covers all languages.

That said, if you aren't sure what system you're going to be training in, then basic physical fitness, cardio, and flexibility should be your focus... just don't expect it all to be equally applicable to all systems, as that's not how things work.

Right now I'm deep into studying FMA. We cover lots of different areas. Weapons, strikes, takedowns, locks, grappling and so on. It suits my mentality better than the Shotokan karate I began with. That by comparison was more limited in it approach to training the human body. I came to the MA as a guy in his 50s aiming to improve his fitness levels. The books I was seeking are the kind I've listed above. Following their tips and advice has already improved my fitness levels and made studying FMA easier.
