Here is a link to the study of places, I would love to live in Colorado Springs, but Texas has three of the top ten places.

Lower taxes enable you to buy bigger homes...

What does buying a bigger home have to do with the article, did you bother reading it first? I guess I am confused by your responses but each there own.

I personally am appauled that Dayton, OH is not on the list.

I find the mix of places rather interesting...some big cities, some smaller areas.

Is it possible to have some non politically crapped on discussion in the Study these days?

I want to move to Seattle so I can have easy access to coffee and have Bill Gates explain Vista to me.

I've lived in Des Moines and can second that as far as moderate sized cities go it is a very nice place.
If I had to pick one on the list it would be a toss-up between Des Moines and Boise since I spend most of my time outdoors when not in the dojo.

A lot of these surveys value different aspects of what a city should be. While one person might focus on the number of creative people, other people might want to focus on the number of crimes reported in an area. It could include the number of jobs in supply/demand, and not include the average cost of living.

This happens all the time, for marketing purposes.

Des Moines must indeed be a wonderful place, if it ranked 9th even while under water.
