http://newsbusters.org/blogs/p-j-gl...m-report-obama-membership-socialist-new-party

an article in the November 1996 Progressive Populist magazine:
New Party members and supported candidates won 16 of 23 races, including an at-large race for the Little Rock, Ark., City Council, a seat on the county board for Little Rock and the school board for Prince George's County, Md. Chicago is sending the first New Party member to Congress, as Danny Davis, who ran as a Democrat, won an overwhelming 85% victory. New Party member Barack Obama was uncontested for a State Senate seat from Chicago.

The evidence is coming out to back the claims it seems.

there's more:
In June sources released information that during his campaign for the State Senate in Illinois, Barack Obama was endorsed by an organization known as the Chicago "New Party". The 'New Party' was a political party established by the Democratic Socialists of America (the DSA) to push forth the socialist principles of the DSA by focusing on winnable elections at a local level and spreading the Socialist movement upwards. The admittedly Socialist Organization experienced a moderate rise in numbers between 1995 and 1999. By 1999, however, the Socialist 'New Party' was essentially defunct after losing a supreme court challenge that ruled the organizations "fusion" reform platform as unconstitutional.

From the October 1996 Update of the DSA 'New Party':
"New Party members are busy knocking on doors, hammering down lawn signs, and phoning voters to support NP candidates this fall. Here are some of our key races...

Illinois: Three NP-members won Democratic primaries last Spring and face off against Republican opponents on election day: Danny Davis (U.S. House), Barack Obama (State Senate) and Patricia Martin (Cook County Judiciary)."

Now, while anyone can endorse anyone, it seems that there were special rules in place here for this "New Party".

Candidates must be approved via a NP political committee. Once approved, candidates must sign a contract with the NP. The contract mandates that they must have a visible and active relationship with the NP.

This strongly implies that Obama was a member.

I think that both parties are shifting gradually closer to their respective extremes.

Sidebar:

Bill O'Reilly appeared on the View today and just said:

This speaks - throwing partisanship aside - to the fact that our government was designed to take some of the best serving parts of other governing structures to work together in this experiment that is the USA. One of those elements is the socialist nature of taxation and general welfare. These elements are part of what has made America strong in some ways yet also bratty in others.

More later.

I'm not really a conspiracy theorists.....but I've been thinking a lot lately about how both parties have more than done their parts in contributing to the sad state of affairs that currently plague our nation.

It occured to me that it could easily appear that they (The government-Dem's and GOP) set it up....like a long line of dominos...to fall and wind up as it did so that they could impose socialist policy, and give the central governmnet even more power over out lives and choices and the vast majority, wanting things to be "better" would welcome their scheme to rob us of our freedoms with open arms....to accept them as our "saviors".

Now that's scarey.

Where's Thomas Jefferson when ya need him!?

Well, what about the Republican socialist agenda?

I mean, does anyone know who said this:

We grudge no man a fortune in civil life if it is honorably obtained and well used. It is not even enough that it should have been gained without doing damage to the community. We should permit it to be gained only so long as the gaining represents benefit to the community. … The really big fortune, the swollen fortune, by the mere fact of its size, acquires qualities which differentiate it in kind as well as in degree from what is possessed by men of relatively small means. Therefore, I believe in a graduated income tax on big fortunes, and … a graduated inheritance tax on big fortunes, properly safeguarded against evasion, and increasing rapidly in amount with the size of the estate.

More importantly, a corporate bailout, and nationalization of the banks just reeks of socialism-but was spawned, sponsored and promoted by Republicans. I won't even get into how we have capitalism grinding down "little people," but socialist support of the corporations doing the grinding.....

And which famous socialist said this:

The very wealthy, because they can afford tax lawyers and all kinds of loopholes, really don’t pay nearly as much as you think they do when you just look at the percentages. […]

So, look, here’s what I really believe, that when you are — reach a certain level of comfort, there’s nothing wrong with paying somewhat more. … And frankly, I think the first people who deserve a tax cut
are working Americans with children that need to educate their children, and they’re the ones that I would support tax cuts for first.

The Esteemed Mr. Obama will inherit a disaster 8 years in the making. The question is not what agenda he has, but what he will do to stop the bleeding. If he achieves that, no one will care which policy he holds dear. In any modern government, one must understand that some Socialism is a good thing, just as some Democracy and some Fascism are also good things. All however must be held in check, failing to do so will lead to an imbalance, and such is a poor position to be in as any competent martial artist will know. Being the first to break the "white male" mold, he must be ever watchful, lest he follow King into the shadows of forever. Some say his rise to power is certain, others disagree. Regardless of who takes office in January, they have an almost insurmountable task before them, one which may decide the final result of this 200+ year American Experiment.
