For those still interested in the saga of the explanation of Yun Poomse
I asked my instructor about their origin.
He said that they came from his teacher, a GM Yan, and that they were basically put together as a collection of self-defense and step-sparring techniques (Hohinsul and Kyorugi that they already practiced, just assemble in a cohesive fashion), which is why there are several echos of Hapkido and Yudo in them as well (in the traps, throws, and takedowns).
From that I inferreed the were more an organized collection of related techniques for a given level rather than an attempt to form an artistic expression
