I don't really follow such things, but I thought I saw something a couple of weeks ago that McGregor recently won a title match against someone. Not that would necessarily prove anything about the point of this thread.
McGregor's last title fight was in Oct. 2018. It was a MMA fight & he lost.
He just recently fought Donald Cerrone in a MMA event this month after over a year layoff. It was the main event fight but was not a title fight and yes he did win.

Thanks for the correction. As I said I don't follow such things much.

Care to elaborate? I haven't seen much of him outside of hype videos.

I should have probably specified. I meant that in an MMA setting or a self defense scenario, the theory is the generalist would be better than a boxer, because the generalist has trained for punching against someone who can counter with anything, instead of only punches.

Better able to apply those specific techniques when less rules are involved.

Hype videos? Have you been living in a CAVE? How can some of you lot be this ignorant and oblivious. It’s actually remarkable

Conor McGregor is the biggest and most famous UFC Fighter of all time. And UFC is the biggest stage of MMA, obviously

But McGregor single handedly changed the landscape of UFC, and broke all records. Jet rocketed UFC to a different level

Man holds most of the record for highest PPV sales by an outrageous amount.

Destroyed great fighters the same way he said he would, BEFORE the fight.

Knocked out Jose Aldo in 13 seconds, and Aldo was undefeated for damn near a decade.. and a champion everywhere he fought. Aldo was an undefeated legend. Crazy warrior

Then McGregor showed up. Destroyed Aldo mentally throughout their fight campaign, then put him to sleep in 13 seconds inside the octagon. Became the champion

And McGregor also ended up moving UP a weight class and destroyed that other champion as well, in the most technical fashion. Clinical striking showcase. Couldn’t even be taken down.

Became the DOUBLE CHAMP.

Then he got bored. Ended up fighting Floyd Mayweather, in a classic boxing match. Floyd is the undefeated pro boxer, and McGregor just went to his own playground and fought him.

Many of the delusional imbeciles say “iT wAs nOt EvEn CloSe”, but McGregor looked great. The entire fight. Floyd could never hurt him, but he won the same way he always wins. Defense and evasion

But the difference between them is, Floyd would never step foot inside the octagon and fight in McGregor’s playground. He’d get killed in a single round.

McGregor made over $100 million just from that Floyd fight.

UFC is mainstream famous now, with eye balls from all over the world and new brand deals. All because of Conor McGregor. He’s not Jon Jones, THE GOAT fighter and a freak of nature physical specimen.

But McGregor just had it all. The perfect blend of entertaining, and ruthless striking and winning in the biggest stage.

Then he got way too rich and crazy famous. Became a father. Just got lazy and lost that fire. The hunger. Motivation. Basically just not the same anymore.

He used to be called “Mystic Mac”, because of the weird mythical presence. But not the same anymore.

Maybe that old McGregor will return. Maybe not

Uh...MMA (generalist) vs a Boxer (specialist). McGregor was toyed with by Mayweather.

Some of you lot been living in a cave. So dumb and ignorant

Mayweather never “played” with him. He never could.. He just won the same boring defensive way. Even though McGregor had no Pro boxing experience, Mayweather still couldn’t hurt him or anything.

And most importantly.. McGregor is NOT a “generalist”. He’s a world class and super elite Striker, with a “touch of death” in his left hand. That’s what he’s known for.

Peak McGregor was unreal. There’s a reason why he’s the biggest and most famous UFC fighter of all time. And holds almost all the records for PPV Sales, by an outrageous amount.

Here’s a little lesson for ya lad. Just for PERSPECTIVE

McGregor got bored in the UFC and moved UP a weight class. Destroyed that champion as well in the most clinical fashion. Brilliant striking show case. Moved like the wind and hit like a truck

Became the DOUBLE CHAMP.

Then he got bored again. Ended up fighting Floyd Mayweather, in a classic boxing match. Floyd is the undefeated pro boxer, and McGregor just went to his own playground and fought him.

Who is Connor McGregor?
Isn't he the guy that assaulted another person in NY?
Had the League promoter get him out of jail?
Or was that a different person I am thinking.

Either way Who are we talking about?
