As the author points out, the US is already in numerous wars and involved militarily all over the world. Not only that, but other nations show signs that they are gearing up for war from the recent build up along ChinaÂ’s coast to South Korea recently deploying cruise missiles along the border of North Korea.

The Kremlin reported yesterday that President Putin has proposed a bill that would forbid Russian officials from purchasing foreign stock and having foreign bank accounts as news outlets around the world (except for the US) are reporting that a “currency war” is already taking place.

HereÂ’s what some top economic advisors have been saying:

Sadly, looking back through economic history, all too often war is the manifestation of simple economic entropy played to its logical conclusion. We believe that war is an inevitable consequence of the current global economic situation.

~ Kyle Bass

Since the 1980s, I’ve been studying the so-called “cycles of war” — the natural rhythms that predispose societies to descend into chaos, into hatred, into civil and even international war.

IÂ’m certainly not the first person to examine these very distinctive patterns in history. There have been many before me, notably, Raymond Wheeler, who published the most authoritative chronicle of war ever, covering a period of 2,600 years of data.

However, there are very few people who are willing to even discuss the issue right now. And based on what IÂ’m seeing, the implications could be absolutely huge in 2013.

~Larry Edelson

Trade wars always lead to war.

~Jim Rogers

So, is the world once again heading down the path to war?

Is this some sort of cycle that is historically inevitable that has grown to a global scale because we now have a “global economy”?

Or, is this just a “Chicken Little” reaction to recent history and current events?

I love history and current events. I also appreciate a really good, intelligent conversation. Any takers?

When where we ever off that path. The world has been at war since beginning of human history. Its never stopped being at war.

Why do we think were any different then humans were 2000 years ago?

Intersting point, it is estimated that the world of modern man has only been at "peace" approximately 8% of the entire time we've dominated this rock.

However, there are various degrees of "war". From skirmishes in Africa between war lords that you rarely hear about to full scale world war like we've only seen twice in our history. A 3rd one of that magnitude could be devestating in today's world. No?

There have been more then 2world wars. If you consider some of the ancient empires and the wars there have been many. Its human nature. I think people in general are mean and violent. You watch 2 three year olds play its only a matter of time before one hits or bites the other.
But I have no doubt the next major war will see then use of nukes.

Pray.
Not to take it lightly, but this is a good place to start.

Having a son in the military is stressful, being older leaves me no involvment options.

The 3rd world war itself will be instagated by smaller countries that will drag super powers into it.............

You can say that after America has dragged smaller countries into wars with Iraq (2 wars) and Afghanistan?

It may be represented that way in the media, but behind the scenes you will see that those smaller countries are manipulated pawns that eventually blow up. For example, Libya is getting friendly with China and making deals to obtain natural resources. China can't be allowed that opportunity. Time to overthrow Gaddafi. Then you have Russia and Syria getting really cozy giving Russia a bit more of a say in the region, time to destabilize.

Who says China can't be allowed 'that opportunity'? America? with it's anti communism? Who says anyone has the right to overthrow Gaddafi other than Libyans? America takes an awful lot on itself to to decide who and what is allowed to do things in the world. Perhaps it's time you stepped away from deciding how countries rule themselves. Don't say that other countries want America to do this, they really don't, it's a vanity that Americans perpetuate, that the rest of the world wants them as a 'policeman'.

So only the US does this?

Much respect to your son.

Would you not consider getting involved in your local government an option?

I was answering an American's post as to why he thinks China can't work in countries so what other countries do isn't the point here but since you ask America is the only country that interferes with so many countries including it's allies. We've had the CIA paying pro EU political parties here so they can lobby and they've interfered with Australian elections etc etc etc. No one else interferes to such an extent. I don't think there's a country the CIA hasn't had it's finger in messing around including in some countries overthrowing the democratically elected government.

You don't think china and Russia don't have there fingers in politics of middle eastern countries like Iran Syria ect? Every power country does it. Its the way things are. We all manipulate other smaller countries.

Ah but you manipulate all countries including your allies and nobody does it on such a scale as you do, no one else can afford to for a start. The CIA's budget is bigger than most countries have to cover everything.

Most countries who try to manipulate do so for their countries good, the USA will do it just because they don't want a socialist or communist government in anywhere even when that government is elected properly and freely by the citizens. What difference would it have made to the USA if Grenada had a socialist government, was it a threat to the USA?

It sounds to me like your OK with other countries doing it because they are "doing it for their own good." But the US is bad because they do it more.
You seem to give our allies a pass that help us you don't think other governments including your own don't help manipulate other governments. I'm not sure why anyone cared about Grenada I sure don't and neither do you until you can use it to knock the US. This is not new its been going on for hundreds of years. One big county backs a small county in a war with another big country so the two big countrys can fight it out with out actually fighting each other.

It's a dirty job but we are somewhat the worlds police. If we isolated ourselves and went about our business by ourselves, the UN would be in trouble. What we do is good for the EU too.

As Grenada is a Commonwealth country with the Queen being Head of State and Queen of that country I'm not sure why you think we shouldn't be bothered about it.
As for the rest you haven't addressed my point...that America interferes with countries that can do them no harm merely because they choose a socialist government. Your attitude towards Grenada seem to indicate that you don't care about what your country does to very small countries. Isn't it true that your country spends a fortune on manipulating in countries just because Americans don't like or perhaps fear socialism and for no other reason?

I'd prefer my country didn't meddle with anyone but I'm not in charge.
