I am not for sure how I did, however I made it all the way through. About 1/3 the way through the test I clashed one titanium leg brace against my other knee. I did not bow out or quit the test. I started it, I wasn't about to not finish it.

I will know how I did this evening after class. (Keeping fingers crossed)

You didn't quit, which is the best part. When I was testing for III Dan, I stepped wrong on the carpet on the floor of the dojang (not my usual dojang, and oddly textured; my feet were sticking to it all night) and twisted my ankle fairly badly and fell down while I was performing one of my required patterns. People watching thought I had broken my foot... then I got back up, finished the pattern and the rest of testing - and passed. The testing instructor later told me that the indomitable spirit I showed in continuing was part of why I passed. I'm sure you're fine!

Congratulations Matt for testing and not giving up!

What did you have to do for your test?

Thanks everyone. I passed 4th gup - blue. The only thing I got gigged on was not dropping my hips into striking enough with hand techniques.

I was so happy, by the way. Thank you all again for the congratulations.

To answer the "What did you have to do for the test"

Warm up
kicking, I did a total of 10 kicks left and right, 10 reps knee, mid section and head high.
8 poomse, chang hon 1-4, and tae guek 1-4. Not once but numerous times.
6 basic moves, right and left side
12 one step sparring, right and left side
kicking against bags, multiple spin kicks and combination kicking
moves across the room, this means combination techniques of hand and foot.

I don't have to break until 3rd gup - purple belt test.

Congradulations!!!! You're about halfway to BB!!!

Crazy things can and will happen during tests. During my Red belt test, when I was a kid, the founder of the system I was in asked me if it was appropriate for a martial artist to smoke. I was on the floor in front of the entire school by myself already but it got a hole lot lonlier. To this day I still don't know how he knew I smoked. I never smoked before class. But I have since quit going on 11 years now.

Congrats Matt. You will always be inspiring others with a no stop attitude like that.

When you are ready to do some breaking LMK, I am a few hours from STL and I come that way a bunch. I may be able to stop in and do a little breaking with you.

Congratulations! As somebody pretty new to TKD I still can't imagine doing more than one pattern in a grading! Huge congrats on something I hope to manage myself in the next couple of years.

I also find all the differences in different training schools interesting. The school I study with start breaking at green tag (7th kup) but you seem to be doing a lot of bag work, which we don't do at all!
