The BJJ Research Labs answer your questions: hair grabs on the ground

Test # 1 is more viable, and that's one I was going to include in my experiments.
The following experiments may be interested too.

A throws B. B drags A down. A then drops

1. elbow across B's throat (or head),
2. elbow straight down on B's chest (or face),
3. knee straight down on B's groin (or belly, kidney area).

That's all pretty standard stuff in my book, although you have to be careful how you practice it so as not to damage your training partners.

Test this for 10 pairs each, and record who will tap out first. I have always wanted to test this on my BJJ friend but we never did this seriously.
If you're ever in Kentucky, I'd love to have you come by the gym so we could run some experiments together. I appreciate your dedication to the scientific method.

Yeah you are definitely a CMA practitioner lol.. Not hating on you, I just understand where you are coming from about. Throwing the opponent to the ground, without going to the ground with him. That's very CMA.
That's usually our approach, too. We will normally only go to the ground if there's a pinning lock available from our knees. We don't like going further than that.

It may take

- 10 seconds to bite a hole on the leg.
- just 1 second to bite someone's finger off.

Here can be some interested tests.

test 1:

- A gets B on an arm bar.
- B sinks his teeth into A's leg muscle.

test 2:

- A gets B on neck choke.
- B bites on one of A's fingers.

If they can bite your fingers, there's something wrong with the choke.

When you use both arms to lock on your opponent's neck, his arms are still free. His free arms can still do a lot of things.

The free arms should be hand fighting. Now if you did peel an arm off you could probably eat someone's finger. Which may give you a hand free to fight for a better position.

But a lot of things have to be going your way.

If you're going to bite in a fight, then fingers are probably the most effective target.
we can always ask this guy lol

I did a google search for human bite injuries and some of those things were horrible. oh well. I can't un-see it so maybe I'll be able to add it to my trauma and forget it lol. Not sure how much the towel prevented the bite. But if the clothing prevents the teeth from sinking into the skin then it looks like biting is going to be useless.

The totality of this thread has convinced me that my quite some time ago decision to cut the flowing locks has been the right one, after all.
