From Johnny Clegg:

Yashimbawula! (the watchman's fire is burning)
What happened to the diamonds in your eyes,
What happened to the hunger for the day's chase?
What happened to the electric smile
That danced across your face
We used to talk about changing the world
Now all you want to do is change your name
Come on baby don't surrender now
to the empty heart of these days.
We used to talk so deep into the night
You had the heart of a wild horse running
You bared your soul to me
and we both knew these days were coming
Chorus:
These days -- blood in the heavens
These days -- fire and ice
These days -- burning streets and visions
These days -- of the loveless child
Yashimbawula!
You were the reason I came here
You will always be the one I am looking for
I can't stand to see the way
these days are pushing you against the wall
Got to get up, got to move out
Face the tide beyond the door
Outside there's a whole world changing
We can't stand here, trapped inside
Let's step out and test the weather
Hang on baby, it's going to get a rough ride thru'
Chorus
These days -- searching for a vision
These days -- gun metal blue
These days -- changing my religion
These days -- heartless and cruel
say the words and fill my sails
I will love you through the coming gale
we'll get through the darkest heart of these days
"It's killing time"
Who will watch the watchers?
Who will keep the keepers?
Who will love the lovers -- could you?

Great song by KISS

Got no manners
And I'm not too clean
But I know what I like
If you know what I mean
Let the people talk
But can't you see
It don't mean spit to me

(chorus)

Lock the windows
Close the doors
She gets down
On all fours
Let the neighbors talk
But can't you see
It don't mean spit to me

(chorus)
I need
Big hips, sweet lips
Make a man outta me
The bigger the cushion
The better the pushin'
Most definately

I need a whole lot of woman
To keep me satisfied
I need a whole lot of woman
Baby, ride after ride
I need a whole lot of woman
Cause what you are
Is what you eat
I need something sweet

Where do we go when we just don't know
And how do we relight the flame when it's cold
Why do we dream when our thoughts mean nothing
And when will we learn to control?

Don't know if it's the greatest, but i like the song by Godsmack voodoo

Im not the one whos so far away
When I feel the snake bite enter my veins.
Never did I wanna be here again,
And I dont remember why I came.

Candles raise my desire,
Why Im so far away.
No more meaning to my life,
No more reason to stay.

Freezing, feeling,
Breathe in, breathe in...
Im coming back again...

[repeat chorus]

Hazing clouds rain on my head,
Empty thoughts fill my ears.
Find my shade by the moonlight,
Why my thoughts arent so clear.

Demons dreaming,
Breathe in, breathe in...
Im coming back again...

[repeat chorus 4 times]

Voodoo, voodoo, voodoo, voodoo.
[repeat]

[so far away...
Im not the one whos so far away...

Lately i've been listening to Razorlight-wire to wire, but it's starting to be a bit too melancholy so i'm trying not to listen to it too much if i can help it.

What is love but a strangest of feelings?
A sin you swallow for the rest of your life
You've been looking for someone to believe in
To love you, until your eyes run dry

She lives by disillusion's glow
We go where the wild blood flows
On our bodies we share the same scar
Love me, wherever you are

How do you love with a fate full of rust?
How do you turn what was savage tame?
You've been looking for someone you can trust
To love you again and again

How do you love in a house without feelings?
How do you turn what was savage tame?
I've been looking for someone to believe in
To love me, again and again

She lives by disillusion's glow
We go where the wild blood flows
On our bodies we share the same scar

How do you love on a night without feelings?
She says "love, I hear sound, I see fury"
She says "love is not a hostile condition"
Love me, wherever you are

Love me, wherever you are
Love me, wherever you are
Wherever you are

Ive been listening to this song a lot lately.
you mean Godsmack? what a coincidence....

--

I've always liked this song very much and have been listening to it since i was a kid. I could always relate to the song as it was hard for me adjusting to north america, moving there after spending 8+ years of my early childhood in zimbabwe.

snap-Believe the hype

Searched and searched
Where is the justice
Couldn't find it
So in God I trust this mind to
So it's strong and fruitful
Am what I am
Black and it's beautiful
Not political
But aware
Power Lord
With a Powerful stare
Never bow down to a mortal man
Here I stand at my own command

Not a follower
Not a leader
An exceeder sharp as a cleaver
Some are sinners some are praisers
Me Turbo B.
Heavenly Hellraiser
Truth from the kid make some folks stagger
Straight through the heart like a 12" dagger
Motley
Way of the world
Gaze upon the black pearl

The bigger the badder. Bull!
In the game of life
Knowledge rules
The one with the brain is the sole survivor
What goods a tank with a stupid driver
See
Don't be a dimwit
Ignorant
Really a bad trip
Wisdom get this
Dicipline ****
Can l get a witness
Not the oppressed not the oppressor
Don't rate this one as anything lesser
Racist
You don't want to hear it
But if the shoe fits then wear it
Life is tough so you got to be tougher
smart
To out bluff the bluffer
Feed your mind till wisdom peaks
Absorb the knowledge I speak

Hey now, there now
It’s a game to be played out amongst
Thieves of the heart and the
Whores of the ego

Hey now, there now
Kiss everyone’s ailments
See them rise up, exalt and illuminate

Oh I hear ya :) Hey what else were you into 90s-style? I think it would have been a little different in the US from here in the UK - was mostly indie stuff and but this is one of my 90s favs, I am sure you know :) I still love this even now.. its apropos of nothing :)

And a happy couple enters the bar
Dangerously close to one another
The bartender looks up from his want ads

When I have a bad day at work I like Anthrax's "Finally" with the line "I drink 3 six packs just so I can look at your face,..... finally."

Ah my friend, there need be no cause for embarrassment. Though folk are down on the 90s, only dig a little below the stupid surface to see it was full of sweet choons from...
- lovely clean version
to
- lovely London boys :)

Just... please... accept that Vanilla Ice will never be a thing to admit an appreciation for in public ha!

Take care,

Ha! Yep that'd be the antidote! When I have one of those oi-do-this-do-that days at work, anything noizy would bring a catharsis. Was gonna give you the Anti-Nowhere League's "So What" and but the lyrics are, um, naughty, ha! Still, I love this here for a crossover... so much better than that stupid Aerosmith/Run DMC nonsense. If you are a purist I am sure you are irked at this?? What did you say to Anthrax & Public Enemy?

Okay, I'm gonna sound old, but I was at the Long Beach Arena when WASP finished their world tour in '87. And I remember rockin' out to AC/DC Back in Black album in 80. And who could forget the the British Invasion of Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Def Lepards High and Dry albums (before they did bubble gum rock). Judas Priest Unleashed in the East one of my favorite albums from '79. Still have it, still listen to it.

Ahhh, the good old days. Did I say that out loud?!?

Not bad, not bad; it was nice to see "Metal" and "Rap" getting along and putting a good song together.

Dude, ain't a bad name there! And I forgive you my child for omitting the wonderful Lemmy and Motorhead ;) Can we have your best pick from that bunch?? And yes, the Priest still rock despite the unwavering brummie accents, ha! Do you use any of these old school choons to get you in the martial mindset?? Love to hear :)

OH YEAH!! I love Running Wild to get pumped up!

I move as fast as I can
I like to get around
I'm crazy like a madman
My feet don't touch the ground
I move amongst the nightlite
I'll make you step aside
Cause when they see me comin'
They know I'm a runnin' wild

What memories that brings up, bonfires in the mountains and drinking beer with friends (even tho we were still in high school) good times

Oh I so adore The Beloved... Oh dear, Sweet Harmony reminds me of all kinds of, um, unprintable things, ha! I have not heard that in ages. And that Ini Kamoze. From NWA and Beastie Boys to The Beloved - your tastes are as absurdly varied as mine I think :D Thank you for sharing. And from me to you, one of my fav 90s-style anthems. I am not sure if this would have made it to your shores: The Shamen "Move Any Mountain"? Lyrically and musically this never fails to uplift me even today :)
Hope you like :)

I will not fail nor falter, I shall succeed
My perception is altered, I do believe
Faith is so strong now nothing shall bar my way
Firm conviction, no fiction
This is my day
