These are headlines and subheaders pulled from miscellaneous news services in the last few days. when our generals and politicians use surge and better body counts as a gauge of the situation, it's interesting to see what stories are being written in the national and international press.

i didn't provide any links, i believe the headlines grouped together paint a vivid picture without the added content. if you want to search these stories out for details- i'm sure you can easily find them via google.

Please feel free to add current headlines about the war as you see them.

I am not sure what the point is of this thread.

Yes, there is a war going on, so headlines look bleak. But if you went by headlines alone, you would think that all of America is a crime ridden sess- pool.

Let's face it, the media reports distaster and negativity, among other things, because it sells. So why would that have any bearing on whether or not a particular strategy is effective, whether it be the surge, a new mayor, a new criminal detection system, etc.?

I heard in and interview that insurgent attaches are down 70%, but the liberal media will not report it

Yeah, how boring would this forum be if all we ever used for subject lines was:

I'm happy in my dojo!
I agree with everything that's here!
Good news! Crime is down in my city!
Who cares if it works on the streets, I feel safe!
There'd be nothing to talk about.

I have been called ignorant several times this week, so please help me here.
How do you do those multiple quotes, and break them up like that?
sorry off topic

At the top of the "reply to message" box, there's an icon that looks like a "text bubble" like you see in the comics. Click it, and it will insert

QUOTE][/QUOTE but with appropriate brackets on either end
into your text. Put whatever you want between the quote brackets, and it will show up in an indented box.
Try the "preview" option to see if it worked.

Or you can just type it.

jaskiljok,

I see more headlines, but no answer to my question above. What exactly is the point?

please reread the my first post on this thread for the answer to your question. if that isn't sufficient then i guess you'll have to force yourself to not bother with this thread.
