If he did not want to appear as an elitist hypocrite, then he would cite evidence of his own sacrifices......anyone? How much $ has B.O. given and to whom? Charities? Which ones? Anybody have evidence to how much he actually pays in taxes or are you simply speculating?

All of that information is publicly available in his financial disclosure forms, here, and a variety iof other places.

And, while he may not mind the % of his income that goes to taxes and FICA, I do. 30%+ to a millionaire does not have the same impact as 30%+ to some poor guy making the average 30K per year.

You make my point for me. Barack Obama will, in fact, lower the taxes of a person making $30K/yr. more than McCain will, and raise the taxes of those who make more than $250K a great deal more than McCain will. You can verify that for yourself, here.

It's amusing to me that those defending Obama's in-action cite that his relatives made the beds they are now lying in and that he has no responsibitity to give them financial aid. Because, that's the same argument made by McCain supporters's against wealth redistribution! ROFL The argument's fine if it suits your purpose, eh? LOL

It is amusing also that many people who don't actually give a fiddler's fart about some poor old Auntie living in poverty will suddlenly be moved to speak to the sorrow of it all when provides a chance to take a shot at Obama.

All political leaders redistribute wealth, whether you call it socialism or whatever. All government leaders spend other people's money. Every president has done that. President Bush spent a lot of other people's money sending other people's kids to Iraq. If elected, President McCain will spend other people's money and likely other people's kids to war. So will President Obama.

I've heard conflicting numbers on who'll pay more in taxes....some as low as 42K a year.

And, just because I'm (attempting and failing) to make what I consider a pretty obvious observation about B.O. does not mean that I am a J.M. supporter.

Why do Leftists always assume you're Republican if you don't buy into their rhetoric? My point has nothing to do with comparing B.O. to J.M.

No. I'm from Canada, eh. Seriously, were I living in the US, my choice would be between Obama and a third-party candidate, possibly Nader.

Fundamentally, we are agreed. Essentially, I don't anticipate fundamental change coming out of the mainstream of politics in the USA, any more than I do here at home. One of my many convoluted points in this thread has been that whoever is elected spends the electorate's money. From my perspective as a voter, I look for the candidate who I think will be at least kinder to people who are poor.

Ideally, (I'm drifting here to another thread about ideal candidates) what I want for me here at home is a candidate who does not promise a fancy tax cut and enhanced services at the same time. I want a fiscal conservative with the soul of liberal who recognizes that things like education, health care, welfare, need to be rebuilt in the same fashion that infrastructure does and who will lay out a long-term plan to pay for it and manage it, and that I, as my brother's keeper, may have to make some sacrifices to get there.

That candidate has not appeared yet, certainly not in the mainstream. My options are to vote for someone who won't win or take my chances with the next best thing on the ballot.

Obama's Aunt in Country Illegally, Under Deportation Order

Barack Obama's aunt, a Kenyan woman who has been quietly living in public housing in Boston, is in the United States illegally after an immigration judge rejected her request for asylum four years ago, The Associated Press has learned.
Zeituni Onyango (zay-TUHN on-YANG-oh), referred to as "Aunti Zeituni" in Obama's memoir, was instructed to leave the United States by a U.S. immigration judge who denied her asylum request, a person familiar with the matter told the AP late Friday. This person spoke on condition of anonymity because no one was authorized to discuss Onyango's case.

Of course, now it'll be Obama's fault that she's in the country illegally, AND he didn't do anything to help her.

Of course, if he'd helped her, he'd be aiding and abetting "illegal immigration..."

Naturally, though, he should at least be brought up on charges for accepting a campaign contribution of $236 from an illegal immigrant....:lfao:
