New here, and new to FMA Kali

Call-Me-Matt

Yellow Belt
Hello 👋😊 I am new to this forum, my first post here.
I’m an old guy, and I’ve used to practice martial arts a long time ago. I am trying to get into shape and I decided to try FMA. I found one great Kali instructor and I did a lot of research on his background and he is very legit. I not going going to say who or the location, because I kind of private that way.

I am only about two weeks in, but I love FMA already. The triangle footwork is brilliant and some of the concepts (kicks, punches) are familiar. Other than empty handed techniques I have started single stick (sorry not great remembering the Filipino definitions..I will get there).

I’m mainly practicing honestly for health reasons and self-defense is a bonus as the techniques so far seem very effective. I know rambling, but there is a lot of joy in doing this for me. A familiar time for me of years gone by practicing martial arts of various types. I also know that I may not get out of the lower ranks for a while… I am 100% fine with that as I’m not doing this for competition, I’m doing this for me.

Thanks for reading my first post - Matt
