There are tons of reasons to take up a martial art. It depends on what you want to do with it. How do you picture a fight? For some guys it's taking down the opponent and controlling or submitting them. In that case bjj, judo, Sambo, and even catch wrestling and other grappling arts would be good. Other guys don't see that as how they vision a real fight happening so they pick striking arts, or they just like to hit stuff. As far as hand to hand combat it depends on the situation. If you are a soldier I'd say weapon arts, because it's rare to be without even something you could use as a weapon. I saw a documentary once a soldier got into a fight and ended it by pulling out a multi tool and using the blade to end it. Another thing to think about "the best" might not be the best for you, you need to find something you enjoy or you won't stick with it. So really alot to consider. But the moral: pick something you enjoy.

I agree, it has to be a martial art, and even more specifically a school you enjoy attending. Some nights can be a little tough because I am feeling lazy, but after every training session I thank myself for going. I always feel better after training Kenpo 🥋

I always feel better after training too. It's such a great feeling.
