MMA and BJJ tournametns

Hello

Does any one know of any amateur mma and bjj tournaments in Illinois. I have done some research and all the competitions require invite or contracts. I was looking for tournaments any one can enter and compete especially people with little competition experience.

MMA is different. It's more like boxing in that you need to get licensed by the state athletic commission and fights are lined up by matchmakers in advance of an event. MMA events are usually composed of individual matches rather than as a tournament bracket. Gone are the days when fighters would fight multiple times in a single night. If you want to start competing in MMA, you will probably need to be associated with an established gym and coach. It's hard enough for promoters to sign reliable fighters who won't flake out or fail to make weight or get injured before fight night. They aren't going to take random walk-ins.
