Kimono heavy bath robe? (Not GI, not terry cloth))

I have watched several of this guy's videos. Personally, I find them interesting and well done.

Looks like it would add a lot of protection. Obviously, my high level of ignorance is showing.

I had no idea.

Thanks.

I found some cheaper ones, made in China, I think. Sometime you get what you pay for. So not sure about quality of these, But could be very interesting. Anyone have one? These are from Etsy and I do not know why two have the same picture but different prices?

A few more I appears that shipping to Michigan, USA, is around $7.50 for a long gambeson.

The more I look at these the more fascinated I become. Just have to figure out how to deal with wife? She is good at raining on my parade.

I ordered some prop weapons from Etsy and it was the same deal. Massive price variations.

I obviously went for the cheapest one.

I haven't got them yet though. So I don't know if I got screwed.

Sorry ali express.

So while I was on Ali express I looked up some cheap gambesons and checked the reviews.

It might give you a ball park as to what you are looking at.

Help full. I did order a cheap speed bag from China. What I got was a cheap vinyl speed bag. broke almost immediately.

I also ordered a large leather speed bag from Great Britain, $50 as I recall. First bag I received was medium leather bag. After several exchange of emails I received an above average leather speed bag. I was satisfied. bags came with Pakistan return Addresses.

Still waiting on robes.

Thanks for gambeson comments. I want to use it for bathrobe so lack of protection is not important. but warmth is. thanks.

Were pictures of weapons you posted of ones you actually received? Are they appropriate quality or junk?

I searched ebay-US for gambesons and got over 3,000 returns!!!

Haven't got them yet. They are on the slow boat. Which I kind of expected.

I did get one of the robes I ordered, about $60 not from Temu or Etse. was pretty nice but sizing was way off. I followed sizing directions off web site but it is way to big. Sent them an email to request exchange.

I also ordered 2 robes for $10 each from Temu but haven't gotten them.

heard back from robe seller that I received that was too big. not Etsy or Temu.

They offered to send me one for replacement If I would pay for shipping. I said OK, wait n see.

If the robe sold for $60 plus shipping. I wonder what the profit on the sale is?

The shipping was $10 to Michigan, USA. So, they are willing to send me another one for $10 and keep the one I already have. It would seem to me that the actual cost of the robe must be pretty low. If the business wants to make a profit.

From the pictures of the robes for sale on Etsy and Temu seem similar to the ones selling for $60 and up. But, they sell for as little as $10-15. I have no information and comparable they are?

25 years I owned part of a shop that sold Leather Motor cycle jackets that were made in the middle east. We sold them for $150-200. If we bought them in lots of 150 jackets our cost was $12! ( does not include overhead, only cost of the jacket itself.) We could reduce the price a lot and still make a profit.

Thoughts?

The robe will be made of cheap materials in sweatshop conditions by blind leprous children being paid virtually nothing.

Have you heard of homeovestism? No? Don’t worry about it…

No, I have never heard of it until your post. Sounds similar to ethnocentrism with sexual arousal?

I do not understand how it connects to my post about Japanese robes? I understand how cheap products relate to profitability.

Also, not clear about connection with sexual arousal?

Can leprosy be transmitted via clothing?

Interesting?

Bet you wish you’d gone into the bathrobe business instead

It was more of a general comment about your apparent obsession with clothing. Hermann Göring was likely a homeovestite and I know at least one person who fulfills the criteria.

Only bathrobes; it gets on your scrodger (remember that word?😉).

Have heard of Eyam? I used to live near this picturesque and ancient, Derbyshire village (pronounced Ee-M). They received a consignment of fabric from London, during the great plague (1665-1666) which was damp. People who came into contact with the fabric rapidly became ill and died of plague. The village decided to close itself off to protect those villages around them and isolate the disease. The villages around and about left food and provisions that the Eyam folk paid for by leaving coins in these boundary stones, each hole being topped up with vinegar to ‘sterilised’ the coins. The village’s population was decimated but the plague was contained. A remarkable story of common sense and level-headedness.

I am old with health issues. Mostly spend my days in front of computer surfing internet. Finding things that look interesting. Chasing white rabbits down rabbit holes. some turn out to be more interesting than others.

last night I was watching what claimed to be a WW2 documentary. in one place it showed an American general on a battlefield in army fatigues with full metals on chest with 3 stars on his helmet, 2 stars on collar, and tech sergeant stripes on his sleeve! Another showed clips from saving private ryan commenting calling actual footage from WW2.

Maybe your posts fall into this category?

LOL

The two summer $10 robes I ordered arrived. Very light weight. material feels like Acetate. hard to complain for $10.
