To Simon and Stuarto, I than you both for your warm welcome. Thank you so very much.
To Drewtoby, thank you so very much for your advice. I hope to learn more.
To Flying Crane, I saw your name and the first thought I had was of doing the "Flying Crane" set I was taught. When I distill my own combos, be it sword, mace or naked fist, I adhere to the "flying crane" footwork. It is so very good to meet you. Here on is an edit: I learned the line George Chen footwork patterns in the 90s and just kept training them. Historical lore says Chen trained with Harry Ng and later joined the White Crane brood. Furthermore, as the lore says, his approach was a mixed blessing. I think of Chen as a reductionist, reducing the practice to footwork like a Western boxer. I claim no rank or affiliation with the clan. I have trained the footwork on my own from 97 to now. I often use Choy Li Fut fist theory on the footwork patterns, and Yang Tai Chi motion models too. My approach to martial data utilizes objectivity. My practice in Dzogchen aids me in not being attached to the martial lore regarding the sometimes-problematic politics involved. Sorry for the info dump. I detest chest beating. It's so Darwinian. I wish you nothing but the best.
