Joe Lewis passes away

I had a great deal of respect for this man for what he accomplished and what he did for the martial arts.

He's now sparring with Bruce Lee in Heaven.

It was my great honor to have trained with this man and even have him single me out during a session for praise (it couldn't have been for any other reason than to have encouraged a very thin and under-ordinary boy). I am most thankful to another great man named Walt Lysak who was able to pray with Master Lewis this summer and helped him to accept Jesus Christ.

Men like Master Lewis are not the type to make it into the public spotlight too much anymore these days it seems. He will be missed but not forgotten.

I am very saddened to hear about his passing. He was a legend of the generation when Karate was at its golden age in America. He would be missed by all of us. His legacy would live on through us.

He was a great one. I still mention him after many years ago that I attended his seminar. He was like the Energizer Bunny!
