There have been at least 13 movies, soon to be 14, about Ip Man or inspired by Ip Man

Ip Man Movies

All of which are historically inaccurate and basically works of fiction based around Ip Man.

Two days ago I discovered there was an Ip Man TV show as well: "Ip Man Origins"

I tried to watch it, and I got as far as episode 4 of season one, before I simply couldn't take it any longer. It is fictionalized and HEAVILY dramatized. Basically it is the Chinese version, of an American soap opera, focusing on a guy named Ip Man

Any similarities to the actual Ip Man or his life are purely accidental

I have not seen them all, but all of them are pretty much fictional with Ip Man as the main character.

I did like Donnie Yen's Ip Man 1, 2 and 3 but they get mre and more fictional as the go. I was not able to finish 4, I tried but it was way to ridiculous IMO

Ip Man never went to America

I liked Master Z: The Ip Man Legacy. but Ip Man (Donnie Yen) was only in it as a flash back. Also I like the movies of the actor who played Master Z, Jin Zhang.

Also liked "Ip Man: The Awakening" But again I like the movies of Miao Xie.

Also I watch them all in Mandarin. There are subtitles, but I do not know if they are all dubbed in English. A few are in Cantonese, not even dubbed in Mandarin.

I haven’t see that yet, but i want to. It is my understanding that of all the Ip Man movie, it is closest reality
IAnthony Wong is a favorite HK actor of mine, the movie also display nice timely scenery and atmosphere of Hong Kong

That one I haven’t seen, got to look it up
Since you’re in China, o believe the Chinese title is the same as the translated English title. Which, as you know, is not always the case

Thank you, I will look it up on the Chinese tubes.
A couple of years ago one could find almost any movies and tv series(for free) on the Chinese tubes, now not so easy.
Back when I moved to China here was a huge black market of DVD’s, the premiere flicks was out on DVD before they hit the cinemas
