Inmate arrested breaking into jail

Deputies found a jail door unlocked and were looking for the inmate. They spotted Jackson trying to come back in and found 14 packs of cigarettes they believe were stolen from a convenience store about a block away.

Well that is the icing on the cake.

The guy breaks out of jail..... and instead of trying for freedom, he commits a robbery nearby and then tries to get back into jail? One supposes it could be viewed as a brainless success of sorts.

Not really. If he just ran he'd have the Law all over him. He'd be a fugitive. When they caught him he'd be put away for a long time. This way he'd still be a "model prisoner" and he'd be well off with 14 packs of smokes.
