Ok. So the discussion got started on another thread regarding the safe wrap system.

There is also this on Facebook that has some interesting ideas. Called Leo combatives(And I assume this is the leg tie Burka used in his story.)

Probably should find some Craig hurami (bear with me on the name.)

Anyway stuff and talking.

I don’t have experience in the field of handcuffing people, so I’m interested in feedback from those who have.

One thing I do like about the SafeWrap approach is that having the subject on their side does seem safer than the alternatives from the standpoint of avoiding positional asphyxia.

This stuff is all modern technology to me. I was back in the PPCT days which was just terrible.

So all of it is just a thousand times better than what anyone I knew was working with .

The safe wrap TM. system seems to give everyone something to do which is important when 5 guys pile on somebody.

I will have to have a play with it and see.

A lot of what I don't like is knees on the ground because they get scratched up. I used to work from kasegetami for that reason.

Interestingly. I often had to keep the guy standing. And wonder if there is some sort of clever Safe Wrap TM. Method there.

Which for me mostly wound up being 3 guys hitting a 2 on on Russian and a back take.

Yup, pretty much the same.

I don’t even remember proper handcuffing anymore, which is sad since I’m going back work as a cop in June.

I remember how to get out of them, though. I was good at getting out of handcuffs. I practiced it a lot. 🤗

Go on then, how do you do it?

I always tried my very best to cuff 'em and stuff 'em before they fully had a chance to process what was going. Avoiding the emotional roller coaster.
I see videos today where there is just Way too much senseless talking and opportunity for escalation going on. Cite them, read Miranda, cuff them, put them in the car.

I have little experience of this, as one of my uncles is a police officer and if I am ever arrested then my mother will find out about it, which is a far more terrifying prospect in some ways than a short prison sentence. It would be kinda cool to know how to get out of handcuffs though and who knows, it might enhance my social life

Wear the bracelet that has a key attached. Cuffs have a very simple locking mechanism. Get a pair and practice. My belt has a concealed zipper pocket on the inside rear, it has a plastic key, a ceramic blade,10 feet of Kevlar cord, and a ferrule rod. I also have something similar on my shoe. Kevlar cord will cut through most non metal( zip ties ) bindings in just a few seconds. All this stuff will pass airport scrutiny.
