A Merced County Homeowner took matters into his own hands Thursday, after catching an intruder in his home.
The incident happened around 6:30 p.m. in the Beechwood area, between Merced and Atwater.
According to Merced County Sheriff's Deputies, the homeowner found the intruder in his home coming at him with a knife.
The homeowner fought back, grabbing a golf club hitting and the man. He ended up hitting the intruder on the head with the club, critically injuring him.

Yep. As soon as he saw the golf club he should have fled if he had had any sense.
Golf clubs are much more dangerous than e.g. baseball bats because they have much less rotational inertia and pack all their weight at the business end.
More importantly, someone who owns golf clubs can be assumed to know how to swing it.

Thats why you never, ever shorten up a sword.

How much of a difference would the angle of the club face make in a fight? Would a pitching wedge cut through the air better, thus moving faster? Or, should you just get a Big Bertha driver?
