Second story I've read recently about a golf club to the rescue. Heck with a pistol, I'm keeping a nine-iron next to my bed from now on.

I recall reading years ago that beatings with baseball bats had become so common in Poland (Do they even PLAY baseball in Poland?) that the police told sporting goods stores to stop selling them unless the buyer could prove membership on a team.
